MOTORS, MEOWS & BOWWOWS
The First Annual Wag Your Wheels Event
A Huge Success!
The sun was shining, the music was playing and our favorite furry friends were excited to be out of the shelter and in the community, as the First Annual Wag Your Wheels Motor Show kicked off with greetings from local radio star and former Camden County Commissioner, Tom Matthews and Homeward Bound Executive Director Jill Rawlins. With hundreds of people enjoying the event, it was bound to happen- Love at first sight! Alx and Oliver were destined for one another. It is a real Cinderella story.

Oliver (formerly Rusty) arrived at Homeward Bound (HBPAC) covered in tics and in need of medical attention as a stray brought in by animal control. The amazing “fairy godmother’s” at HBPAC provided the medicine needed and cleaned up the 9 month old wire dachshund/terrier mix and his sweetness began to shine through. On the day of the motor show, which we are referring to as “the ball” for this epic story, Oliver was ready for his big debut, no glass slippers needed!

Long-time volunteer, Alx Davis was assigned as Oliver's chaperone for the big ball. From the minute the leash was locked on to his collar and in Alx’s hand, the two were inseparable. They weaved in and out of the 1969 Corvette and rounded the third row of cars as the music played and the people watched them. All the volunteers and staff from HBPAC were rooting for a happy ending. Alx and Oliver glided up to the HBPAC booth and the rest is as they say history. Oliver is homeward bound with Alx- he has found his fur-ever home.
SAVING MORE CATS - THROUGH THE HOMEWARD BOUND PET PANTRY & AMAZON
Last year, Homeward Bound was able to save more community cats through the expanded Pet Pantry Program. Partnerships like the one we have formed with Amazon’s Distribution Center in Sewell have brought in over 5 tons of food and needed pet accessories. When combined with the gifts made from our generous donors, thousands of animals are being saved.

Animal protection organizations in our area, like our partners HARTT, No Mom Left Behind, Pennsauken Community Cats, Barrington TNR and Mount Ephraim TNR alongside the many individuals who support the feral cat communities in South Jersey, need resources. At Homeward Bound, we see the many volunteers who are out in the community, working tirelessly to provide for the cats in their neighborhoods and boroughs. The Pet Pantry has grown to become a go to resource for those groups. We are able to provide in this way thanks to our partners at Amazon and committed donors who purchase items from our wishlist.

Donations of food, litter, and other pet accessories are critical to the vision of distributing as much as we can back into the communities we serve, to enable pets to stay in their homes and out of shelters.

Even beyond the cat communities, Pet Pantry is saving our furry friends who stay with their families. COVID 19 hit many families hard. Sometimes a bag of pet food is the difference between having to surrender their family pet and being able to continue to provide for their needs at home. Thank you so much for continuing to support Homeward Bound through the Pet Pantry!
