“In all the Dioceses of the United States of America, January 22... shall be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion." (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, no. 373)
But abortion isn't just a Catholic issue-- it transcends both religion and politics. All people of goodwill can come together on this human rights issue founded in the natural law which is written on every human heart. Thus it is fitting that the theme for this year's March is "Life Unites."
Before he left office, former President Donald Trump proclaimed January 22, 2021 as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. Together we mourn the more than 50 million innocent lives lost since the United States Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision 50 years ago. The proclamation stated that:
"As a Nation, restoring a culture of respect for the sacredness of life is fundamental to solving our country’s most pressing problems. When each person is treated as a beloved child of God, individuals can reach their full potential, communities will flourish, and America will be a place of even greater hope and freedom."
We couldn't agree more. That's why Respect Life Ministry's work here in the Archdiocese of Miami to create a culture of life and love by Walking with Moms in Need through our Pregnancy Help Centers, and advocating for LIFE in all stages through information, education, and public policy is so important.
-
and our follow-up Walking with Moms webinars offered in English (February 11th- REGISTER HERE) and Spanish (February 16th) on how to meet with your elected officials to advocate for mothers and their children, born and unborn.
It's now easier than ever to participate from the comfort of your own home! If you've not had the opportunity to travel to DC or Tallahassee for the March for Life or Catholic Days at the Capitol in the past, make this year your first!
These are invaluable ways to act upon our pro-life beliefs and truly become faithful citizens, for the good of each and all. Thank you for partnering with us in this mission.
