SHABBAT TZEDEK: A SABBATH OF JUSTICE WITH YAVILAH McCOY
Yavilah McCoy was selected as one of The Forward 50: The Machers And Shakers Who Influenced, Intrigued And Inspired Us This Year : "An educator, playwright, and a force behind the Women’s March, McCoy fights to make the Jewish community more welcoming to Jews of color. She grew up Orthodox in Brooklyn, lives now in Boston, runs a consultancy helping educational institutions foster diversity, and opened her speech at the march in Washington by saying, Shabbat Shalom." Shabbat Tzedek: A Sabbath of Justice
QABBALAT SHABBAT
Friday, January 17, 6:00 p.m.

Join us for an inspirational Shabbat Tzedek, a Sabbath of Justice, to celebrate the values of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with honored guest Yavilah McCoy, who will speak about shifting our mindset towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. This service is open to people of all faiths, and will be available through  live-stream .

All families are welcome to join us before the service at 5:00 p.m. for a pizza dinner! We will also offer babysitting for ages 6 months to 3 years starting at 5:30 p.m., and older children's programming during the service.
TORAH STUDY & COMMUNITY TRAINING
Saturday, January 18, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Temple Israel Board of Trustees, professional staff, and teens have all taken part in diversity, equity, and inclusion training. Now we have the opportunity! We will begin with Torah Study and continue with a full community training, including lunch. We will conclude with a closing ritual to inspire us to continue this practice.

Participate in the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC)  Day of Service  with others in the Temple Israel community. Many of us, including Tali Puterman and Rabbi Slipakoff, will be volunteering at the beautification and revitalization projects at Blackstone Elementary School. Join a 2020 Small Group to gather for meaningful conversation, relevant learning, and relational connections. In lay-led groups open to all congregants, we'll dive deep into some of life’s biggest questions such as ‘Where is Home?,’ “How do we disagree?,’ ‘What Do We Assume?’ and more! Your willingness to be present at most of the gatherings is encouraged. Most groups will begin mid-January.
