"The alarm rings! Time to begin another day. Make the bed, get dressed, head downstairs to open His Word. After reading the next couple chapters the time has come to either head out on my run or find a quiet, comfy spot at home. This time is precious, spent in thankfulness and praise to God for all He has done and to continue to seek His direction in my family’s life and others.

There’s not a single one of you that hasn’t faced challenges recently, that hasn’t felt like giving up at one time or another, that doesn’t understand, that hasn’t questioned if God exists, and if He does...what is He doing?

I’m sure the words of Proverbs 3:5-6 are familiar to most of you. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

The words in this Proverb come across as so simple to understand...yet so challenging to do. “Trust in the Lord”- Through all that God has shown me in His Word and through life experiences He continues to show me that He is faithful. He has a plan. He knows the big picture. He is working. By spending time in His Word I see how He was faithful and worked through many people’s lives. I come to know the promises that He has for me and seek fulfillment of His promises.

“... lean not on your own understanding”- So many times I have been awakened to how much control and how much understanding I don’t have. God has repeatedly given me the opportunity to fully rely on Him. My understanding says:

this exam is a waste of time,
there’s no way there could be a problem
my kids will be fine to go on a bike ride or drive to work
there’s no way we can pay these bills
this problem will go away, just wait
we can’t possibly afford to do that

By trusting in Him, knowing that He is faithful, and holding Him to His promises...I am able to stay true to Him when the phone rings with unexpected news, when the neighbor informs me of an emergency, when the doctor explains what’s going on, when the country shuts down…

God has proved His love for me again and again and given me the opportunity to know Him better. I desire to continue to see Him work and fulfill His purposes through me...according to His understanding. I will continue to praise Him, submit to and follow His lead, knowing that His plans are so much greater than mine.

God loves you and has great plans for you...beyond what you can even imagine. I encourage you to dig deep into His Word, get to know Him more, spend time daily in praise and reflection of who He is and what He has done. I pray that you will recognize His blessings in your life and others. May your eyes be opened to His purposes being fulfilled through you and may you be encouraged to continue to seek Him and follow His ways as He reveals Himself to you. "
