Cornwall Library Newsletter March 2021
Lately, I have been having a little trouble thinking of things to write about to share with my Library Friends. One thing that keeps popping into my head is: it has been a really bad-weather February. I can't remember snow being piled so high outside in February since my adult son was three (or was it four ?) years old. We had planned a small party for the weekend with his cousins, and a couple of friends from daycare. It snowed so much on the Friday before that I debated about whether or not I should bake the birthday cake. I did, and my son helped, while my husband shoveled. When he was done, we all went outside in heavy winter coats to take a look at how deep the snow was. Not only was it over my son's head, but it was also over my head! Luckily for the birthday boy, it did not snow again until just after his party & everyone had gone home.

This year not only are we suffering from February Blues, but also from COVID isolation. I love it when I am leaving the Library building and see a patron, who manages to recognize me despite my mask.

I know you all will be happy to hear that the Library will be open by appointment again, beginning on March 1st. It will be the same rules as the last time: masks, call ahead, social distancing, a limited number of people in on the Adult side, and a limit of one family on the Youth Services side. Browsing sessions will be half an hour, which means you have to look and checkout within that half-hour. We will also have half-hour computer appointments.

We are looking forward to seeing you again!

Some homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage now have a little extra time to seek help.

Interest and monthly payments on federally-held loans are suspended through January 31, 2021.

The Library now subscribes to hoopla - a video streaming service that provides access to hundreds of thousands of digital items for free with your Cornwall Library card! Visit www.hoopladigital.com to get started!

Patrons have a 5 item monthly limit for materials borrowed through hoopla. However, if 5 titles are not enough, in February, they have made extra items available that don't count toward your limit. To access these, look for items in the "Bonus Borrows" collection.
