Natomas Unified Opens COVID-19 Vaccination Site for Healthy Natomas

In an effort to help slow down the spread of COVID-19 and to create a healthy Natomas, the Natomas Unified School District has begun administering COVID vaccinations at our new vaccination clinic with the support of the Sacramento County Public Health and Dr. Rusty Oshita with Urgent Care Now.

Residents 65 years and older, first responders, and individuals that fall within the priority groups that are currently being served under the state tier system are eligible to register to receive the vaccination through our clinic. Each week, the schedule will be released to the public with a limited number of spots to sign up.

We are making a concerted effort to reach and assist residents that have language and technology barriers. Each Monday between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., representatives will be available at (916) 561-5253 to help residents that need assistance with registering in multiple languages. To register for the vaccination or for a free COVID test, please click here.
NUSD Pilots COVID Rapid Testing for Quicker Response

In addition to vaccinations, we have also started a pilot of Rapid COVID testing with staff members, who are physically working at our centers and school sites, and students currently enrolled in our small cohorts, Day Camps and Daycares. This is one more effort the district is taking to help quickly test individuals to slow the spread of the virus. To get a glimpse of what the rapid COVID-19 testing pilot looked like for staff members, watch the video below.

African American History Month Contest Winners Announced

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 2021 African American History Month Poster and Essay Contest! This year, we had over 35 entries from students throughout NUSD. Winners have been selected and we are excited to feature them below.

Jasmine, a 4th grader at Bannon Creek, illustrated Serena Williams. People know Serena for being a powerhouse on the tennis court, but what Jasmine illustrates is Serena’s continued fight for women and people of color to be treated equally and the path she has made for others to follow.

Joshua, a junior at Inderkum High School introduced us to Fred Hampton, a champion for social rights in Chicago in the 1960s. In his essay, Joshua wrote, “It is our job as the new generation of the world to re-amplify and give new life to these ideas to honor those who have fought for them. Regardless of how much people try to silence our voices, we must keep fighting for the future that we wish to have.”

Two Rivers' Custodian Named 'Classified Employee of the Year'

Congratulations to our new Classified Employee of the Year Robert Mohoff! Robert is a custodian at Two Rivers Elementary School. He was selected because of his exemplary work and how deeply he cares about the school, its staff and students, and the safety of all who enter the campus. We are lucky to have him in NUSD! Enjoy this video that further explains what makes Robert so special.
