The celebration includes a panel discussion on Black History in America, Poetry & Motion, Artists, Arts and Crafts, Community Recognition of Minnie Nelson and Winnie Moyer (Descendants of the Antioch Colony) and a Greek Step Show.

Black History Month Profile: Council Member Ray Bryant
Council Member Ray Bryant is the City of Buda's first black council member. Mr. Bryant sat down with Communications Director David Marino to talk about growing up in Chicago, what got him involved in serving the community, and the importance of diversity and inclusion.
Alliance Water Pipeline Project Update
Contractors have started surveying the location for Alliance Water’s Phase 1A Segment B Pipeline project in and around the Old Black Colony Road area.

Initially the pipeline will be used as part of Alliance Water’s established water sharing agreement and will eventually be utilized to deliver treated Carrizo-Wilcox groundwater to the City of Buda.

Buda Count: Census 2020
By April 1, 2020, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. Accurate counts impact federal funding levels and representation in the state and federal level.

For more information on the 2020 Census and the importance of being counted, please visit  2020census.gov or www.ci.buda.tx.us/budacounts .

The Buda City Council has established a Complete Count Committee (CCC) for the City of Buda. CCC's are volunteer committees whose purpose is to increase awareness and motivate residents to respond to the 2020 Census.

International Dark Sky Community Survey
The City of Buda is interested in becoming an International Dark Sky Community. Dark Sky is a program that is administered and maintained by the International Dark Sky Association. They are a nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve the night sky by promoting responsible outdoor lighting.

They educate the public and policymakers about the importance of preserving the night sky. Dark Sky is more than seeing the stars, it’s fighting light pollution for the betterment of our environment, our health, and our energy consumption.

We would love to know how you feel about becoming an International Dark Skies Community. Please fill out the short survey in the link below. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
