Dear Family and Friends of South Cove Manor:
Good Afternoon,
I am writing to provide you with additional news about COVID-19 in our building. As I had shared with all of you in previous e-mails, our regularly scheduled staff surveillance testing conducted on Friday, December 4th, identified 4 staff members as positive for the virus. In response, on Sunday, December 6th, we tested all residents that had close contact with any of the positive staff members. Unfortunately, 2 residents were identified as positive for COVID-19.
Those residents’ families have been notified, and we have activated our COVID-19 positive unit that is located in our rehab room. 4 teams of 2 staff members each (1 nurse, and 1 C.N.A.) will staff this COVID positive unit, with each team working 12-hour shifts. These staff members will ONLY work on the COVID positive unit, and will have no direct interaction with other staff members or residents.
Today, we tested 100% of our staff again, and we anticipate that we will have the results back tomorrow. In addition, we will test 100% of our residents tomorrow, and anticipate those results on Wednesday.
Until further notice, we will be testing 100% of our staff every Monday and Thursday each week, and 100% of our residents every Tuesday and Friday. While it is our hope that there will not be any additional positive cases, we are prepared for that eventuality. Any positive staff that are identified will be excluded from work, and any additional positive residents identified will be moved to our COVID positive unit.
I will be back in touch with all of you as soon as additional test results are received.
Thank you again for placing your trust in South Cove Manor.
