Notes from the Headmaster
Greetings families,
I wanted to again extend an invitation to join us at Curriculum Night this upcoming Tuesday! This is an opportunity to step back, reflect, and remind ourselves about one of the central pillars that distinguishes us as an academy. Our students are daily watered with this rich and meaningful content, ever so carefully chosen and prepared. This content, filtered and delivered through our talented teachers and Socratic pedagogy, sets us apart as a classical, liberal arts school. We would love for you to join us both to contemplate and to celebrate this together.
The first portion of the night will be for all families as a group. I will be giving an overview of the philosophy and principles that undergird our curriculum and methodology. The second portion is an opportunity for you to be a student again! Each grade level will host a simultaneously hold a lesson that demonstrates our curriculum though a live lesson in action. Please look for a further email with Zoom links to each grade level online meeting room.
In lieu of a distinct Singapore and Spalding Night, our Great Hearts wide experts have kindly taken it upon themselves to put together a meaningful and rich presentation on each program. Margie Clouse and Jake Tawney will share their love and passion for these excellent and fundamental programs. You can see each video by accessing the following link:
Thank you for your time and support. We look forward to seeing you next week!
With Devotion,
Stephen Philabaum
Headmaster

Traffic Flow Update and Thank You
Dear Athenian Families,
Since the very beginning of our academy, the sense of community has always been Archway Trivium East’s defining attribute. Yesterday, we had a glowing example of our community coming together to create a better experience for all. Student pick-up at the end of the day is an “all hands on deck” affair, with students, teachers, and parents each taking on a specific role to complete a single task. We sent out a message yesterday afternoon with some directions for as well as some suggestions for how parents could make pick-up go faster and smoother. I am pleased to report that, due to the amazing response from all of you, we were able to get all the 2:50 Kindergarten-only pick-up families in and out in a timely manner. We also finished pick-up in 29 minutes, our best time yet! There is still work to do to meet our goal of consistently completing pick-up in 25 minutes, but we are now well on our way to reaching that goal. Thank you all so much for your support.
Heartily Devoted,
Clay Scott, Ed.D. | Director of Operations, Dean of Students
