Taste of Boyne will kick off Restaurant Week in April
Boyne Appetit For our valued restaurants and food merchants:
We are excited to invite you to be a part of Boyne Appétit! Restaurant Week. We know we have the very best food-based establishments and restaurants in Northern Michigan and we want EVERYONE else to know it, too. The simple truth: Small town. Epic Food.

Because we listened to your feedback, we are adding some excitement to this fun week and will be doubling our efforts for the promotion of this event, which includes on-air ads, radio ads, rack cards, and poster distribution. We want to be sure that your name is included where possible!

There will be only one Restaurant Week this year and it will be held April 24th through May 3rd. Your participation in Restaurant Week is free, of course, so please complete this Restaurant Week registration form and return it no later than March 1st.

To kick-off our Restaurant Week, we are excited to offer a new event: The Taste of Boyne. This is designed to invite the community for a food tasting but also to allow you and your business the opportunity to taste and mingle with others in your line of work. Held at the Boyne Mountain Civic Center on Thursday, April 23, 2020, from 5:30 until 8:30, there will be no participation cost for your establishment and we ask that you provide "tastes" of your choice for 300 people, in addition to the appropriate staff to work the event. The Taste of Boyne registration form needs to be returned before March 1st. This form is separate from the Restaurant Week form.

But that's not all that is new! In an effort to promote your business year round, the folks that attend Taste of Boyne (there is an entrance fee for attending) will be receiving a punch card that is good for a year. This card will be taken to participating merchants and when ten $10 purchases are made, they will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate. To do this well, we are asking you to provide us a $50 Gift Certificate prior to the Taste of Boyne evening. By doing so, your establishment will be listed on the punch card. Once a card holder has completed their card, they will be entered for our monthly drawing for one of the provided gift cards.

Lastly, we have included a Sponsor Opportunities form that outlines ways for your business to sponsor this event. We hope you will take the time to consider that.

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.

Sincerely,

WELCOME, NEW CHAMBER MEMBERS!

Need to make a boating reservation? The Boyne City Municipal Marina is now participating in the State of Michigan's Central Reservation System for all advance transient slip rentals. Reservations can be made utilizing the call center at 800-447-2757 or their website. There is a non-refundable fee of $10 for using the call center and $8 on the website. Reservations can be made up to 6 months prior to your arrival date. KorthaseFlinn donates to charities with shared purpose
donation
Donations were awarded at a lunch meeting at Barrel Back.
KorthaseFlinn Insurance and Financial Services has announced that $5,000 was donated on behalf of its clients to various charitable organizations that assist and strengthen our northern Michigan communities.
During a luncheon event held February 12 at Barrel Back Restaurant, KorthaseFlinn made contributions to the following local organizations:
  • The Women's Resource Center of Petoskey
  • The Care & Share Food Pantry of East Jordan
  • The Manna Food Project of Harbor Springs
  • Friendship Centers of Emmet County
  • The Nehemiah Project of Petoskey
  • Good Neighbor Food Pantry of Boyne City
  • Boyne Area Alano Club of Boyne City
  • Guardian Gals of Gaylord
  • The Father Fred Foundation or Traverse City
These donations were made on behalf of clients, who directed the contributions by voting for their favorite charity. For the fourth year in a row, to express gratitude for the relationships that have enabled the agency's success for more than 90 years, KorthaseFlinn replaced holiday gifts to clients with a donation on the client's behalf. Each non-profit supports KorthaseFlinn's mission - providing peace of mind by preparing and protecting our clients from life's uncertainties.
"As KF has grown, so has the list of wonderful organizations for which our clients designate their donation. Northern Michigan is blessed to have so many non-profit organizations ready to assist community members in need," said Randy Flinn, President of KorthaseFlinn Insurance and Financial Services. "We are honored to do our part in supporting these organizations on behalf of our clients."

Leadership class seeks funding help to build Riding Sensory Trail as this year's community service project
Leadership The 2020 Leadership Charlevoix County Class will be building a Riding Sensory Trail for Northern Michigan Equine Therapy as this year's Community Service Project.
This sensory riding trail will consist of a rich learning environment of woodland paths that consist of slopes, turns, varied footing, natural sights and sounds, and man-made activity stations. This integrated environment will challenge clients' balance, stimulate their senses, and encourage reaching therapeutic goals. Activity stations will be therapeutic stopping points along the trail that will offer clients the opportunity to see, hear, smell, touch, and talk about the items they encounter.  This trail will give all the clients at NMET an option to get out of the arena and onto the trail to participate in therapeutic activities.
The leadership class will complete all phases of the project from marketing and fundraising to actually building the trail. Because the programs offered by NMET are considered "alternative," their services are not covered by health insurance. All costs to clients are out of pocket or by scholarship funds raised by NMET.
The leadership class needs help to fund this great project. They hope that local businesses will become community partners and help make this project a reality. Here is more information on $250 and $500 sponsor opportunities.
> To become a sponsor or learn more, contact class member and fund-raising committee member Kim Akin by email at [email protected] or by phone at 231-582-6222.
