Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Messages From
Superintendent Hill:
|
Now more than ever, it’s critical that parents understand the technology that children engage with everyday. CCSD93 parents are invited to join us online at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15 at www.ccsd93.com/techtoolbox for the first ever CCSD93 Parent Technology Toolbox. You’ll learn information, strategies and practical advice that you can use to help keep your child safe in their ever-growing digital world.
The event will kick off with a YouTube Premiere video stream of Carol Stream Officer Pablo Castro, who will highlight online student safety concerns that all parents should know about. You’ll then be linked to our new Technology Toolbox website, where you’ll find brief video modules from CCSD93 experts focused on a wide range of topics including:
- How to set restrictions on your child’s school and personal devices
- Tips for vetting an app or website
- Key information about specific apps like Snapchat
- And much more!
Bring your questions for our Ask a Tech Expert form!

Please Take CCSD93
Satisfaction Survey by 12/16
|
|
Each year, we poll parents, students, and staff members with a satisfaction survey to seek input on our performance. We have updated this year’s survey to better align with the challenges we are all facing, and your responses will help guide instructional delivery, programs and services.

Health & Safety Resources & Reminders
|
|
As our community’s health metrics continue to surge, I invite you to visit www.ccsd93.com/COVID19 for a number of resources, including testing locations, meal assistance and more.
For the health and safety of all, and to contribute to an atmosphere conducive to returning in-person learning, please continue to take to heart the generally accepted guidance of washing your hands regularly, wearing a mask, and watching your distance in all interactions in your personal lives. Please continue to consider this guidance as you plan holiday travel and gatherings.

Please review the following information for more of the latest from CCSD93.
Sincerely,
David H. Hill, Ed.D.

Students Taking Personalized iReady Assessments in December
|
|
During the month of December, teachers will schedule and administer the iReady Math Diagnostic to all elementary and middle school students. These are adaptive assessments, meaning each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. The results enable teachers to better understand what students know and need to learn. They help to create a personalized path of learning lessons and activities for each child, better meeting their individual needs.
Teachers will use Zoom to monitor students while taking the assessments. With students taking these assessments remotely, it is important that families note the following:
- Families should not assist students in answering questions.
- This is not a typical test and no standard scores or grades are given from it.
- In order for iReady to assess students properly, students will likely encounter many questions to which they do not know the answer.
- Brain breaks are built into the assessment. These might look like games or movement activities. Parents should allow the student to play the games or participate in the movement activity.
- Students should not stress about this assessment but are encouraged to do their best.

for 12/17 CCSD93 BOE Meeting
|
|
CCSD93’s Board of Education will hold a public hearing on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the District's E-Learning Plan.
The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comment on the proposed E-Learning Program. If approved, the program will permit students to be instructed electronically while students are not physically present in lieu of the District's scheduled emergency days. This program is allowed under Public Act 101-0012. Section 5/10-20.56 of the School Code contains the minimum requirements to ensure staff and student participation in an E-Learning day will allow the day to be counted as a day of student attendance. If approved, the E-Learning Program will be implemented for a three-year term. You will be able to find the proposed E-Learning Program posted to CCSD93’s Board of Education Agendas & Minutes website on Friday, December 11.
