The Week in Review
Good Afternoon All -

What a way to end last week. I couldn't have asked for better weather or company. We held the “Kickstart Orangetown Car Parade” to celebrate the reopening of many of our businesses here in Orangetown. I was excited to see so many of our residents out dining and shopping throughout our community. I was especially happy to pick up some cheese in Nyack, some wine in Sparkill and eat lunch with some of the members of our Kickstart Orangetown Committee in Pearl River. Thank you to all those that participated in the parade, as well as the  Orangetown Police Department Clarkstown Police Department South Nyack-Grand View Police Department Piermont Police Department and in addition to the Auxiliary Police for helping control traffic along the parade route. A special shout out to all the fire departments and ambulance corps that took part in the parade. I know that you have been involved in many of these drive-by's over these past few months and you didn't hesitate when asked to do one more. Thank you.

13 weeks after Governor Cuomo placed us on "Pause" and we are almost at Phase 3. For those who are unaware of what your business needs to do to be in compliance with the State, the County and the Town, please visit our KickStart Webpage . If you can't find the answer there, please send an email to Kickstart@Orangetown.com

On Wednesday evening past, I participated in a program, entitled “Community Forum on Race, Respect, and Repentance,” which was sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Pearl River. Together with local clergy, it was an inspirational evening of short statements, prayer, singing and a question and answer session. It is my hope that this was just the beginning, and I look forward to continuing to work with our religious leaders to help us navigate through these tumultuous times.

There are lots of events going on this weekend and next - I have included a variety of them in this weeks newsletter. Please - attend and support those you can. Thank you.

Stay safe Orangetown!

It took more than two years after the delivery of the Emancipation Proclamation for slavery to formally end on June 19, 1865 – “Juneteenth.” As we are reminded every day, progress toward true equality has been slow.

To that end, Pastor Brandon McLoughlin will host a Juneteenth Celebration on Friday Night, June 19th, at 6:30pm at St. Charles AME Zion Church , 432 Valentine Avenue, Sparkill, New York 10976.

This event will be held on church parking lot. Please wear a mask and be mindful of social distancing.

Happy Father's Day
Father's Day has been celebrated on the Third Sunday in June since 1910. It was founded by Sonora Smart Dodd.

" A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way."
