Homelessness News: Collaboration

What's up with HUD? Last week on the HUD quarterly call, we learned that we're going to be busy this Spring. And that's a good thing.  In the next few weeks, HUD plans to release rounds 4 and 5 of the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program grant, and this time we're more ready than ever! We're embarking on a Youth 100-Day Challenge with system leaders keenly aware of our focus areas and a Challenge team willing to set and reach a big, bold goal! Once we have the goal defined, you'll be the first to know! Stay tuned for more exciting news.

100-Day Youth Challenge Workshop HUD approved Northeast Florida/Jax participation in the Youth 100-Day Challenge, facilitated by Rapid Results Institute . Of the 21 communities funded through the HUD YHDP, they have ALL completed the Youth 100-Day Challenge. Northeast Florida/Jax is part of the HUD Cohort 5, which includes Central Alabama, Charleston SC, Key West and West Virginia. On February 25th and 26th, Cohort 5 meets in Charleston, with each community developing its own goal. In Northeast Florida, innovative on the ground staff at youth and homeless services agencies are taking up this urgent work. They will be changing the way our community responds to homelessness.

Built for Zero Update: Calling all Landlords! The number of affordable and available units in our community plays heavily into the amount of veterans our team is able to house every month. We depend on landlords, small and large, to help us in our efforts to reach functional zero for veteran homelessness. If you or someone you know owns a unit available to rent in Nassau, Duval, or Clay county, and is interested in housing a veteran, please register the unit here . *** Our veterans are enrolled in housing programs that give them access to vouchers to assist with rental fees, case management, and other supportive services.

Check out what's new with HMIS! Client Track 18 was launched this month. This version contains very little change in interface. Client Track 19 will be launched later in 2020.

What does it take to affect change? Driven and determined stakeholders like YOU! If you care about homelessness and want to be a part of the solution, please join us. The general membership meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall at 225 East Duval Street, 8:30 to 10:00 am. Our next meeting is March 12th.
