Cool air! It's just around the corner! Fall brings beautiful weather and busy calendars. Children are back at school, which means tons of activities for families.
Fall is a very busy time at CFGC too. Our annual fundraiser and community wide mental health seminar are a few exciting events we want to share with you.
We also want to highlight how volunteers provide so much to the Center.

Eaton B Line Partners with CFGC to Give Back!

Giving back to their community is an intentional goal of Eaton B Line. Giving to make the community a better place is a priority of the corporation, management and employees and is done with a spirit of pride and enthusiasm.
Plant manager, Keith Shockey encourages generosity and giving and his employees enjoy the opportunity to be a part of a company that cares about helping others.
Eaton B Line has enthusiastically partnered with CFGC providing generous financial support but equally important allowing their employees to volunteer at the Center.
This summer, employees volunteered for a workshop at the Center making Operation Warm Fuzzy blankets for our clients with fleece purchased by Eaton B Line. Keith stopped by that day to give kudos to his employees and to ask what more could they do for us.
Since then, Eaton has become a Diamond sponsor for the Starfish Benefit, supplies all the snacks for our children (each child receives a snack after their session) and has donated two beautiful "Eaton Blue" metal cabinets to store OWF blankets!
We are tremendously grateful to Eaton B Line and all the employees for their generosity to our Center.

If Your Child Doesn't Want to Go to School
Going to school usually is an exciting, enjoyable event for young children. For some it brings fear or panic. Parents have cause for concern when their child regularly feels sick from tension, "plays sick" or with minor physical complaints wishes to stay home from school. Not wanting to go to school is most common in children 5-7 and 11-14, times when children are dealing with the new challenges of elementary and middle school. These children may suffer from a paralyzing fear of leaving the safety of their parents and home. The child's panic and refusal to go to school is very difficult for parents to cope with, but these fears can be treated successfully, with professional help.
Refusal to go to school often begins following a period at home in which the child has become closer to the parent, such as a summer vacation, a holiday break, or a brief illness. It also may follow a stressful occurrence, such as the death of a pet or relative, a change in schools, or a move to a new neighborhood. |

Gracie Taylor takes the helm for Operation Warm Fuzzy!
Gracie Taylor is a sophmore at Sherman High School and the new leader of the Operation Warm Fuzzy project for the Sisters of Service.
Gracie has grown up making OWF blankets and is very passionate about the project. Her cousin Michael Olmstead led the project in 2011. Also, many times the families gathered over the holidays to make blankets for children at the Center. Each new child receives an OWF blanket at the end of their first therapy session. It is a special gift just for them. It makes them feel safe and cared for.
We are thrilled to have Gracie leading the way!
