UPCOMING EVENTS FROM COMMUNITY FRIENDS AND PARTNERS
Free Zoom Events in October for Massachusetts Parents of Teens! Parenting Perspectives on Supporting Teen Mental Health!

Parents and other caring adults in teen’s lives may be hesitant to discuss mental health with each other out of embarrassment or lack of knowledge. This can lead parents to feel isolated—like their family is the only one struggling with these issues. You are not alone! We can join together as parents to learn how to support teens through tough situations such as chronic stress, anxiety attacks, periods of depression, hospitalization, and even suicide attempts. During this free virtual event, Parent Speakers discuss how they recognized that their teen was having mental health problems, what they did to help, mistakes they made, and advice for parents in similar situations. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen, ask questions, and engage in dialogue with panelists. Register today, http://familyaware.org/parent-event/

Free Webinar airing 11/18/2020: Caregiving from a Distance: How to Support Someone Who Lives with Depression

Whether across the country or, in the time of COVID-19, the next town over, caregiving for a loved one living with depression who is not in your household carries special challenges. How can you gauge their wellbeing? Is it possible to provide constructive support from far away, to help them work toward wellness? Are there effective ways to communicate your concerns? The good news is that, yes, you can be a partner in care even when your loved one is physically distant from you.

In this webinar, presenters Dr. Sandra Edmonds Crewe and Dr. JaNeen Cross will discuss how you can be an effective caregiver for an adult with depression who does not live with you. You will learn how signs and symptoms of depression may vary according to cultural context, ways to help your loved one find and pay for treatment, and tips for overcoming communication challenges related to physical distance.
