The Falcon Flyer - Website Edition
 March 18, 2022

Dear Rondout Families and Faculty,

Sunday is the first day of spring and we look forward to another beautiful week ahead. Spring Break will follow and we know that everyone is looking forward to the time away from the regular routine. Whether you ae staying at home or traveling, we hope that you have a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break.

We have a full learning agenda for the last two months of school including State testing and keeping student learning on track and robust as we finish our learning plans . We will be planning for the transition to the next school year. Eighth grade will bring their Rondout experience to a close and we are happy to be able to return to some of our rituals and traditions as we end the year.

We are adding a new feature to the Falcon Flyer which is news from the Board of Education. We will be sharing highlights of the regular Board of Education meetings each month.  Click on the link below which will take you to a quick summary of the meeting as well as links to more information about the Board of Education. Hope you find this interesting and informative.

On April 9th, we are sponsoring a Day of Humanitarian Service for our Families. There will be a series of activities set up that you can participate in that day. Activities will be set up from 9 to 1 p.m. and will include service to support our community here at home as well as those in need impacted by the war in Ukraine. We are finalizing the plans this week and next with more information to follow next week to help you plan for your participation.
You can stop by for 15 minutes or stay for the entire time. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

This will be our first day of family service but definitely not our last.  Helping others can bring a great sense of satisfaction and help us build the capacity for compassion and empathy to everyone involved.

Let us keep the hope for peace alive.
Take care… Until next time…
Dr. Jenny Wojcik

Notes from Our Principal
Ms. Elizabeth Davis
Dear Families and Staff,
I hope that you are all doing well and enjoying the glimpses of spring this past week. We saw green this week with St. Patrick’s Day! Despite our best efforts, the leprechauns avoided capture from traps created by Kindergarten and 5th grade students. Students also had a chance to acknowledge Pi Day, and learn all about circles. Our Book March Madness continues with our final round of competition. Will Sumokitty defeat Potato Pants? Be sure to follow along on the Rondout Library Website. Don't forget to ask your student to share about their favorite story!

A few reminders as we race towards Spring Break. Please be sure to communicate with the main office about any student absences before break. After we return, students in grades 3-8 will be taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness. Upper School students will test April 7-April 11. Students in the 3-5 cluster will test April 11-13. In addition, students in grades 5 and 8 will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment during the week of April 18. Please reach out to administration with any questions regarding state testing.
I hope you all take time to rest and relax this weekend.
All the best,
Elizabeth Davis

Click on the links below to view/print the calendar highlights for the next two school years. Many parents have asked us to provide more than one year of calendar information to assist with planning their family schedules. The Winter and Spring Break dates align with School District 128 ( Libertyville High School). We were able to provide a preview of the next two years since the high school district had finalized their calendars for the next two school years. Hope you find it helpful. We do not anticipate any changes in the hours of our school day. Please reach out if you have any questions.
