The Right Mix

by Bonnie Biocchi, Executive Director

Who says oil and water don’t mix? Although Engineering and Operations are often seen as two completely separate divisions within an organization, you would never know it if you were at our E & O conference this past week. Lineworkers, Managers and Engineers congregated together to get the most out of this conference and it was gratifying to witness nearly 220 attendees, sponsors and exhibitors all networking and interacting under one roof.

In addition to the many excellent opportunities for learning, there were many opportunities for developing friendships for future collaboration and industry growth.   Whether learning how to balance climate change objectives with fiscal responsibility, discovering the perils of suspension trauma, or acquiring the most current application of insulate/isolate practices, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, learn new techniques and grow their wheelhouse during this 2-day event. Sessions on managing a multi-generational workplace and Solar PV and Battery Storage attracted scores of inquisitive folks interested in adopting new strategies for their utilities.

I’d like to thank our presenters, sponsors and exhibitors who made this a stellar event. Their knowledge, financial support and exceptional industry products were perfectly blended together to make this show a success. And, despite the cold and rain, our stalwart truck displays were a great addition to our roster of Exhibitors.

Building on the success of the E & O, we are looking forward to our Customer Service Conference on June 19 th.  Remember to submit your nominations for the Carol A. Tracey Customer Service Award by May 24 th. And don’t miss our Annual Conference and Awards Gala at the Mt. Washington Aug 18-21 st. We are finalizing our conference agenda and will be sending that out soon. In the meantime, please remember to send us your nominations for the many awards we present at the gala.

We look forward to seeing you there!
