How long do I have to shovel my sidewalk after a snow event? Residents are responsible for snow and ice removal from public sidewalks within 24 hours after a snow event.

Spring Primary Election is this Tuesday:
|
|
Election Date: February 18, 2020. Please use the
Ward Map (PDF) to see where your polling place is. Polling places are open from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm on Election Day.
Other Election Information:
- Registration can be completed in person at Village Hall or at the polls on Election Day. Please remember that Wisconsin Requires a Photo ID to Vote.
- There is no voting or registering at Village Hall the Monday before any election.

Summer Bay Volunteer Program:
|
|
The Summer Bay Volunteer Program is looking for volunteers Grade 9 through Grade 12 (as of the 2020-2021 School Year)
The Summer Bay Volunteer program provides the youth of Whitefish Bay an opportunity to become leaders in the community. Volunteers will be placed in summer day camp programs at Richards and Cumberland Schools to work with youth entering preschool thru 8th grade.
Applications can be found at the main offices of the Whitefish Bay Middle and High Schools and the Whitefish Bay Recreation and Community Education Department located on Lydell Avenue. Applications can also be downloaded from our website,
www.wfbschools.com.
Deadline: All application materials must be returned to the Whitefish Bay Recreation and Community Education Department no later than
Friday, March 13, 2020.

Foreman (Closes 2/26/20): In addition to performing general maintenance, repair and construction tasks as directed, the foreman shall direct and supervise a crew or several crews and/or outside contractors on specific job assignments. Starting hourly rate pay range is $31.85 to $35.12.

Snow Storm Cart Placement:
Friendly reminder! Please utilize your driveway apron or clear a portion of the parkway for cart placement. Snow and ice must be cleared around the cart(s) as well as the lid.
Please do not place your refuse and recycling carts in the street. Thank you for your cooperation during the winter weather.

Fire Hydrant Snow Removal
As the snow piles up, help the Fire Department by adopting the fire hydrant closest to your home or business and keep it free of snow during the winter.
If a fire hydrant is buried by snow, it is difficult to find and valuable time must be spent digging it out. Keep snow clear in a 3-foot radius around the fire hydrant and shovel a path from the street or roadway up to the hydrant. This will help the Fire Department in the event of an emergency

Whitefish Bay School District Theater Presents:
Beauty and the Beast
Step into the enchanted world of Broadway's modern classic, Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful original songs along with new music, show-stopping numbers, iconic characters, and magic for the whole family.
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
This "tale as old as time" offers a perfect opportunity for the old, the young, and everyone in between to witness and enjoy family theater at its best. Come join us for this magical, humorous, and heart-warming experience at the Whitefish Bay High School Auditorium located at 1200 E. Fairmount Avenue.

"55 and Better" Luncheon and Lecture at the Whitefish Bay Recreation Department:
Tuesday, February 25, The Empowered Patient: This presentation will help us in getting the most effective and proper health care during doctor appointments. We then can utilize this information to take control of our personal health situation! Presentation by: David Lillich MD and Maryanne Lillich MN, RN.
Menu: Chicken Marsala with mushrooms, penne garlic pasta, spinach salad, cheesy bread and chocolate cake. Doors open at 11:30 to socialize, lunch at 12:00 and presentation at 12:45. Cost $9.00, Must be paid and registered by February 20 to attend.

The Whitefish Bay Recreation Department would like to congratulate the winners of our 3rd/4th co-ed and 5th/6th grade boys of the Whitefish Bay and Shorewood co-op basketball league! The 3rd/4th grade Lakers were coached by Chris Calvelli and Jim Place. The 5th/6th grade Nuggets were coached by Jamie Reeve and Ken Lutze. Thanks to everyone who participated and made it a fun and competitive league. We look forward to next year's season

Did you know? Seniors are often the most vulnerable and targeted group for financial scams. These scams are now so prevalent that they are considered “THE crime of the 21st century”. Finding and prosecuting these criminals continues to be a challenge for law enforcement. Financial scams frequently go unreported because seniors do not know who to report to or may not realize they have been scammed. Some of the most common scams include health insurance fraud, telemarketing fraud, internet scams, charity scams etc. To help prevent and identify potential scams follow these tips:
- Be aware of your risk of being scammed by people unknown to you, as well as those close to you
- Don’t send money or give out personal information (i.e. bank account numbers, social security, dates of birth) to unknown persons or companies
- Don’t buy from an unfamiliar company. Always check out unfamiliar companies with your local consumer protection agency ( Better Business Bureau, Wisconsin State Attorney General, The National Fraud Information Center) before making a purchase.
- Don’t pay for services in advance
- If you suspect something is wrong, do not hesitate to delete the email or hang up and call the police or family member/friend.
Recently a phishing scam has been identified that preys upon fears of the new coronavirus. Cybercriminals are using the coronavirus as clickbait to spread malware and attempt to steal personal information. They’ve crafted their phishing emails to look like they’re coming from health officials such as doctors or national agencies, such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Some of these emails suggest clicking a link to view information about “new coronavirus cases around your city”. Other emails suggest downloading the attached PDF file to “learn about safety measures you can take against spreading the virus”. Don’t fall for it-just delete it! The CDC, the Wisconsin State Department of Health Services and the North Shore Health Department will NOT be reaching out to you via email in this way. If you click the phishing link, you’re brought to a webpage that is designed to steal your personal information. If you download the PDF file, your computer will be infected with malware.
Always remember: Never click on a link or download an attachment that you weren’t expecting. Because of the alarming subject matter, the bad guys expect you to click or download without thinking. STAY ALERT! Don’t be a victim.
