Principal's Corner
by Donna Laughlin
Congratulations to our cross country team, which finished up a very memorable season this week. There is no state or national competition this year, but two of ILCS’s 7th graders, Cody Rummel, and Madeline Cassidy, placed in the top three for all of the meets that they participated in, which is something to celebrate. This year’s team was the biggest in ILCS history. With 30 kids, 16 percent of all eligible children ran with our cross country team. Great job, Eagles!

This week I am especially thankful for all of the ways that people have gone above and beyond to support and encourage the students and staff at Immanuel. Every night a crew of volunteers fog our classrooms with disinfectant. Staff members have given of their personal time to help deep clean classrooms. Church members treated our staff to a brownie bash during our staff meeting, and a parent brought coffee and doughnuts in appreciation for those who were temperature and symptom checking in the rain. There have been many other acts of love and kindness shared, as well. All of these are ways that we share Christ’s love by serving one another. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” [Matthew 5:16]
COVID-19 FAQs
Will our school have to close due to the new mitigation measures for Region 8 of Kane and DuPage Counties?
Not at this time. However, this is a great opportunity to stress the importance of disinfecting , handwashing, social distancing, and wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Family Reading Night

What Is Reformation Day All About?
On October 31, much of the culture will be focused on candy and things that go bump in the night. Protestants, however, have something far more significant to celebrate on October 31. It's Reformation Day, which commemorates what was perhaps the greatest move of God's Spirit since the days of the Apostles. Learn more here.
