Nebraska Wins National Championship!
The team from Millard North High School represented Nebraska at the National Personal Finance Challenge. The 2021 Challenge drew students from all over the nation to test themselves on their financial knowledge. More than 9,500 students showcased their skills in finance with Millard North in Nebraska taking home top honors at this year’s Finals. These competitors adeptly demonstrated their understanding of essential life skills: how to manage money and make tough choices. This is the first time a team from Nebraska has won the National Personal Finance Challenge.

New Entrepreneurship Curriculum!
Did you know there is a new Entrepreneurship curriculum to add to your business, economics, marketing, entrepreneurship and other classes?

The curriculum was written by area experts: Dr. Jamie Wagner, Director of the Center for Economic Education in Omaha; Dr. Jennifer Davidson, President of NCEE; Ms. Sydney Kobza, Assistant Director of Nebraska Career and Technical Education; Mr. Matt Pierson, social studies teacher at Omaha Bryan; and Ms. Gigi Wolf, Education Specialist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

The curriculum is nationally recognized with a Silver Award from the National Association of Economic Educators.

Teacher Professional Development
Personal Finance Institute a Success
Twenty-one educators across Nebraska gathered at UNO College of Business Administration to participate in the Personal Finance Institute. The three day program included instruction on banking & budgeting, insurance ,investing and more. Participants were required to complete Institute pre-work in preparation for the event. Upon completing the Institute participants took the W!SE Financial Literacy Certification exam. This designation allows teachers to offer certification opportunity to their students. We hope to continue to offer this program again. Be on the lookout for announcements.
Investing 101 for Teachers
The purpose of this workshop was to increase teacher and student knowledge of investing through the NE Stock Market Game and other activities. We are grateful to the Investor Protection Trust for providing the funding to make this important project a reality. We also appreciate our workshop host, Sandhills Global, for the excellent workshop space and providing a delicious lunch for our teachers.

Nebraska Financial Education Network
The Nebraska Financial Education Network is a community focused on advancing financial literacy across the state of Nebraska. The individuals and organizations that donate their time and resources to this cause are involved in education, government, and private businesses across Nebraska. The purpose of the network is to bring Nebraska’s financial education resources together so studentsparentseducators, and community members have the information and resources they need to control their financial future.
