"Freedom is the Future"
A letter to Congress from Palestinians in the United States
Palestinians in the United States and their allies have issued a historic letter to the U.S. Congress, and they don't mince words: "We are a collective of Palestinians in the U.S., and your constituents, supported by allies from a range of justice movements, working for freedom for the Palestinian people. Today, mass movements are demanding political leaders fight for policies that advance liberation over the status quo. In this spirit, our call for freedom must be heard."

"The U.S. government uses taxpayer funds—$3.8 billion annually—to bolster Israel’s military, making us complicit in Israel’s violence. We Palestinians in the U.S. are forced to fund our own oppression."

"We demand that the U.S. immediately end all military funding to Israel and other forms of military, economic, and diplomatic support until Israel upholds the rights of the Palestinian people and our vision of justice."

The new realities of life brought by Covid-19 have produced an explosion in online gatherings, organized by and for the movement for Palestinian rights. We’ve done the work of curating a selection from the hundreds of worthwhile recorded events in 2020: webinars, conferences, interviews, and more.

Election 2020: Evangelicals for Biden
"Poverty, lack of accessible health care services, racism and climate change are all pro-life issues"

The Trump presidency has stirred up controversy within the broad community of evangelical Christians in the United States. While Trump has enjoyed support among a significant number of evangelicals, principled opposition to him has emerged, most notably in an editorial by Christianity Today Editor in Chief Mark Galli.

As the election nears, prominent evangelical leaders have struggled with how to square their pro-life stance with the moral and political depredations of the Trump administration. This petition from Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden appeared recently. It reads: "As pro-life evangelicals, we disagree with Vice President Biden and the Democratic platform on the issue of abortion. But we believe a biblically shaped commitment to the sanctity of human life compels us to a consistent ethic of life that affirms the sanctity of human life from beginning to end."

Citing their opposition to “'one issue' political thinking because it lacks biblical balance," a group of evangelical leaders from a range of institutions, including Christianity Today, Intervarsity Press, and Fuller, Westminster, Gordon Conwell, and Eastern Seminaries have signed a statement declaring their support for the Democratic nominee: "Poverty, lack of accessible health care services, smoking, racism and climate change are all pro-life issues. Therefore, even as we continue to urge different policies on abortion, we urge evangelicals to elect Joe Biden as president."

Sabeel-Kairos UK initiates program on Cry For Hope
Early this summer Kairos Palestine and the Global Kairos for Justice Coalition released "Cry for Hope," A Call to Decisive Action." It called to the global church network and its allied organization to take seven actions to educate, mobilize and guide local, regional and national organizations to act for justice in Palestine. Sabeel-Kairos UK has initiated a program directed to congregations and clergy to study Cry for Hope and join with other churches and allied organizations in the UK to undertake the actions listed.

"We would like to invite you, as a leader of your Church/denomination, to join a small and intimate online discussion with Palestinian Christian theologians about Cry for Hope: to hear directly from them what our Palestinian Christian family are facing in their daily lives, to discuss, challenge and be challenged on theological perspectives, and to find out and what you and your church can do to stand in solidarity with them here in the UK."

"This is a unique opportunity for you to engage with and learn from Palestinian theologians, whether you know nothing of the situation or are already an expert. This event will be hosted by Sabeel-Kairos, a Christian human rights organisation working to promote a just peace for Israel and Palestine.
