The more people who take the census in your community, the more federal money your community stands to receive. About 250,000 people move to Arizona from other states every year. We can all help ensure Arizona gets the funding it deserves when everyone participates.

From Your Councilmember
This week in workshop, the Council received presentations on our Community Development Advisory Commission's recommendations for distributing almost $2.5 Million in federal grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.  These grants benefit the neediest in our community with services and programs through Community Development Block Grants, HOME, and Emergency Outreach and Shelter programs.  The Council also reviewed and provided guidance on our HUD 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan which provides guidance to the community and local agencies regarding our funding priorities for the coming years.   As a Council Item of Special Interest I have requested that the City Manager include revenue and expense figures for this year and last year in his upcoming report to the City Council regarding the 2020 Chocolate Experience.  You can watch this workshop meeting HERE, and the evening voting meeting HERE.

I look forward to seeing you at Noche de Glendale, Councilmember Aldama's new annual event in Murphy Park this Saturday.  Details are provided elsewhere in this newsletter.
I am happy to report the new Starbuck's at 59 th and Olive is now open and the new Desert Diamond Casino West Valley will be holding it's Grand Opening this Wednesday at 8:00 PM!
