Youth and Children's Ministries
Dear St. Andrew’s Families,

Welcome to our new and improved monthly newsletter for St. Andrew’s Children’s and Youth Ministries. We have combined our two newsletters so families from both ministries can stay abreast of what is happening across the continuum for families at St. Andrew’s.  A big thank you to Ashley Pindell and Amelia Bodde for creating our new format.

As August begins, we are moving into the 6 th  month of the COVID pandemic.  All our lives look very different from February.  This includes life at St. Andrew’s.  We have been gathering remotely for church, Sunday school and youth group.  St. Andrew’s is slowly opening back up.  We are now offering in-person Sunday worship.  Our youth group will begin meeting in-person after Labor Day, outside, socially distanced with face masks.  Our acolytes will begin serving again on August 16.  In person Sunday school and nursery care are still on hiatus but we continue to see many cheery young children each Sunday morning for online Children’s Chapel. 

August also means our annual Back to School Bash!  Read on to find out how and when we will be celebrating this annual event. Lastly, as we continue down this windy, bumpy pandemic road know two things are certain.  One, God is with each of you, present to you in how each of you need God in this moment.  And second, your St. Andrew’s family is here for you, praying for you and thankful you are part of our family.

Student Leadership Team 2020-2021
The beginning of summer marks the end of the school year and the anticipation of the year to come. This summer we focused our efforts on our Student Leadership Team, spending time all together bonding and planning for the year to come. This year we have 14 Student leaders! Pen Pal Program
We’re creating a new way for children to connect – pen pals! Simply fill out our online form and we will match your child with a pen pal. We’ve included some tips and ideas for your first letter. Some kids will write letters, other kids will draw pictures, some kids might include a photo or stickers.  Click here to learn more!

Back to School Bash
with a Twist!
Drive-Thru Back to School Blessing

Join us for a Drive-Thru Back-to-School Blessing under St. Andrew’s porte-cochere.  We will offer a shower of holy water on whatever parishioners want to have blessed in this strange back-to-school time -- backpacks, laptops, phones, (computer) mice, hands, feet, cars, whatever.

It will also be a final farewell for Fr. Jeff, who will be offering the blessings as his last Sunday act here. To add to the occasion, we will have an ice-cream truck offering individually wrapped ice cream treats as you leave the parking lot.  This event is for parishioners of all ages.

We are continuing Children’s Chapel and Sunday School at 9:45am via Zoom (ID: 454-101-706) in August. You may visit our  webpage  to access each week’s lessons and activities. Here’s a list of what’s coming up this month.

Baptism
Information


The next date for baptism is Sunday, November 1st. The baptism prep class will be held on Thursday afternoon, October 22nd. More information can be found here
Youth Ministry
Youth Group
Sunday 3:30 - 5pm

This year we will be introducing a separate meeting time for our middle schoolers and our high schoolers! Read below for start dates and meeting times for the different groups!

High schoolers will begin meeting on August 30th at HJ's from 4:30 - 5:30

Middle schoolers will begin meeting on September 13th from 3:30 - 4:30.

*Student Leaders note you will be meeting the 9th, 16th and 23rd of August.
Acolytes

Our acolyte program has been on hiatus since worship on-line began.  Starting August 16, acolytes will once again be serving at the 8am and 10:15 service.   Click here to find out more information about serving as acolyte for the fall.
