Cardinal Newman Families,

I am excited for us to jump into a new school year.  We will, without a doubt, have challenges to face together, but there are many wonderful experiences in store for our students ahead.  We are happy to welcome 98 new Cardinals to our campus this year.  We are also grateful to have eight excellent new teachers and staff joining our community.  In the coming days we will take the opportunity to introduce them to you.

Orientation for New Parents and New Students

Our Orientation for New Parents will be held this coming Monday night.  Students should attend.  Attire is casual.  We begin at 5:00 PM and will end by 7:30 PM.  Dinner will be provided.

New students are to be here on Wednesday.  Orientation begins at 8:00 AM.  Formal attire is required.

Orientation for All Returning Students

Returning students are asked to be on the grounds for Orientation on Thursday, August 19thFormal attire should be worn.  Pictures will be taken.
All students whose last names begin with the letters A through L have their Orientation from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.
All students whose last names begin with the letters M through Z have their Orientation from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.
Orientations will be held in our gyms.  Students can be dropped off at the gym entrance.  Use the parking lot by the gym and tennis courts and enter through the gym doors.
Upon arrival students will receive a checklist of items to accomplish, i.e. take school pictures, receive updated schedules, get parking passes, take school ID photos, etc.
Once they have completed their checklist, they will be free to leave.
We anticipate the process taking anywhere between 15 minutes and 45 minutes depending on waiting lines.

Paperwork to be Completed

As we make our final preparations for the year we will need a number of reference documents completed by our families.  All of our paperwork to be completed can be found on the website.  Please be sure to have all paperwork completed by orientation.  The link to site can be found at: https://www.cnhs.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=2014930&type=d&pREC_ID=2110281

Communications from Cardinal Newman

We will continue to share vital information with you through several digital sources.  It is important that we have your up-to-date information.  Should you have any changes to your contact information, please enter these directly into RenWeb or communicate them to Theresa Harper at tharper@cnhs.org. Please be sure to address any changes by Friday, August 20th.

Below are the primary forms of communication that we ask you to become familiar with.

The Website Calendar – Please be sure to download the school calendar to your devices by going to the following link and subscribing to the calendar.
Schoology will be our Learning Management System.  This will also function as a central mode of communication for our students.  All homework will be posted here.  Activity moderators and coaches will communicate with their clubs and teams through this tool.  We will have training for parents on Schoology to help all to better access information.

FACTS (RenWeb) is our student information system.  Student grades will be regularly available through this program.  Progress reports, grade reports, and schedules will be distributed through FACTS.  We will also share texts and phone calls using this program at key moments and in case of emergency.

We will send regular email communications home through Constant Contact.  Our weekly e-blast, letters from the principal’s office, and other departmental communications will be sent out via email.

Your child’s guidance counselor is your go-to person for any scheduling concerns you may have.  Parents will have already received a back-to-school letter introducing your guidance counselor.

Please look for a monthly e-mail update from your grade-level PTO representative.  This will highlight school events and ways to get involved in the PTO. Sign up to volunteer here.

Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter will also be used for news, events, and highlights. Please be sure that you have subscribed to these and follow Cardinal Newman. (Links are in the footer of this email.)

Students will want to finish up the last of their summer reads if they have not already. We are excited for a new beginning, and look forward to seeing everyone on campus in the week ahead.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
