ANNOUNCEMENT
NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear Friends of Ivy Creek,

Ivy Creek Foundation is very pleased to welcome Sue Erhardt as our new Executive Director! Sue has more than 20 years of senior leadership experience working in conservation, nature, and place-based education. She began her career in the inner city of Detroit working for The Greening of Detroit. With support from a WK Kellogg Foundation grant, the organization installed outdoor classrooms at Detroit Public Schools. Sue introduced many of her students to habitat restoration by building pollinator gardens on their school grounds and planting trees. During her tenure she reached 15,250 students in the Detroit Public School system annually. Sue also implemented Tree Keepers Kids, a conservation education curriculum which resulted in higher science scores for students.

In Washington, DC, Sue worked for Casey Trees and expanded the organization’s network of coalition partners to include public, private, and charter schools as well as community gardens, US Botanic Gardens, Smithsonian Institutions and local universities. These partnerships included over 32,000 volunteers of all ages.

At the Allegheny Mountain Institute Sue managed farms in Augusta and Highland counties. The farm in Augusta County, located on the campus of the local hospital, produces organic vegetables for hospital patient meals, the Food Farmacy program, and local nonprofits providing food to people in need.

Sue says that working at Ivy Creek in such a beautiful setting is a dream come true.  She is honored to be working with such committed staff, volunteers, and board members.  Playing a key role at Ivy Creek Foundation will allow her to combine her passion for history and the natural world with her experience running nonprofit organizations.  Sue’s first day will be December 9 in the afternoon. Feel free to stop by the office and welcome her!

Gratefully,

Rochelle
