Your weekly news & updates
Dear Residents -

Well, you know you are in full holiday mode when your e-newsletter is filled with Santa sightings, Chanukah lightings and toy drives. That is certainly a reason to celebrate. If you are able to contribute to one of the many toy drives that are taking place in Orangetown, I promise you it will bring joy to a child.

On Tuesday, December 15, the Orangetown Police Reform Committee will be hosting a virtual meeting, open to the public, as part of Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order requiring local governments with a police department to adopt a policing reform plan by April 1, 2021. I want to thank the Committee members who have volunteered their time to work on this very important mission. Details to access the meeting are below or you can view it via Facebook Live starting at 5:00 pm.

Next Thursday, December 17th the Village of South Nyack will hold an election on whether to dissolve the Village. I do not envy the residents of South Nyack having to make this big decision, as there are certainly pros and cons for both sides. I urge everyone to get out and vote - whether it be in person or via absentee ballot - for what you think will be best for you and your Village. I have no say in this matter, but should the residents vote to dissolve, the Town Board will be here to do whatever it can to make the transition as seamless as possible for all involved. After all, we are all a part of Orangetown and will be in this together.

For those who have registered for the Santa Claus 5K, I will see you on Sunday.

Stay safe.

Regards,
Teresa M. Kenny
