FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT
A Week in the Life of a CFWC President …come walk with me by my side for what was a fast- Federation week in my busy life.
I have had such a full and fabulous week and hope that each of you can say the same! Between Convention Updates, Club Meeting’s, District Conventions, and a lovely visit to the El Segundo Club’s Spring Boutique, life is full! Emails and Postal Mail abounded 6 days a week, and, as I am still finding my stride to keep up with the wonderful duties as your President, I spend my days in a place of joy with a smile to share.
Although this will sound a bit like a diary, it is fun to share my week with you so that you might like to say “yes” to anyone calling you to step-up to serve in a Leadership role. Leaders are those of us that have something to offer, we need to make sure we have both the energy and juggling abilities to make it happen. Sure, sometimes we drop a plate we have in the air, but leaders always clean up our messes.
My days start out the same. Really every day, the coffee pot gets started and then I feed the animals. By the time that is over, I can sit down and begin my meditation routine. Meditation is my self-care regimen, and if you have never meditated and find that you need to center yourself, I would recommend it highly. I spend about an hour inward with grace and by then, Bill is usually up, and we enjoy a light morning meal with tea and coffee.
After that, I get outside to weed and water veggies and my many garden delights. I love seeing the burgeoning of life come from Mother Earth and enjoy the blossoms, bees, and butterflies that abound in the garden. Often the birds are around and there is even a pandemonium of parrots that visit our forty-foot cactus tree and feast on the ripe cactus apples at the top. It drives poor Dexter crazy, but I love the sound they make. And yes, a group of parrots is indeed called a pandemonium, believe me they live up to their name.
I spend more than a few hours every day on emails and phone calls, this is to say, I may not get back to you for a bit of time, but you are on my list. I do my best to return what I can timely, but often something comes up that needs immediate attention and takes my time away. I am a family gal and wife first. I never want my volunteering to come before my home-life. I usually spend evenings with Bill, and I love to be in the kitchen. I walk Dexter an average of 1.5 – 2 miles daily, this is good for him and good for me. Walking clears my head and I usually do this about four in the afternoon as a wind-down to the day.
Once you put the things I do between those daily rituals, the day is full! I am so grateful to have full days filled with cooking, appointments, meetings, cleaning, laundry, laughing and enjoying the ability to just simply Be Able To. How many of us take that for granted? Just to be able to do what I need to be whole is a blessing. Nightly, I give my gratitude to the universe…I’ve everything I need, and I am grateful, for each day is a gift.
I am so happy that I have so many of you that I can call friends and share weekly with you in Quick Bytes. My time craves friendship, love, and kindness. I sprinkle it out like glitter, and it comes back to me tenfold. Thank you, your kindnesses and trust, for they each bring light to my life and heart.
Be kind always and never take anything for granted. We are the makers of our paths and the story tellers that weave what we reap and sow with the seeds of our life planted firmly in our desire. Enjoy and revel in all life shares!
Luv, Pam
