Join TB ECHO for a special World TB Day presentation!
Diagnosed with cavitary pulmonary TB in 2016, Charet Wynn completed 270 doses of directly observed treatment for TB disease. On March 22nd, she will tell her story as a TB survivor and her future dedication to connecting with other survivors through We Are TB.
This didactic will also include a review of current national and WA State TB trends, presented by Kelsey Hewson, a MPH candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington. She is currently finishing her thesis on COVID-19 outbreaks in Washington K-12 schools and is also involved with the Student Epidemic Action Leaders (SEAL) team. Previously, she worked with the DOH foodborne team, helping with Salmonella interviews.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe a patient experience of TB treatment in order to address barriers to treatment completion and improve completion rates.
- Identify strategies to lessen the impact of isolation on patients with TB and improve resources available for support.
- Use state TB epidemiology data to identify populations at risk for LTBI/TB disease and improve timely diagnosis.
Space is limited. 1 hour of CME/CNE credit from Curry International TB Center, UCSF is available with attendance and completion of the after-session evaluation. Please note: people who are already enrolled in TB ECHO will need to register for this webinar to participate.
