The twice-weekly COVID -19 testing of Ingersoll staff, as required by New York State of all skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, is into its second week. To date, there have been no new cases diagnosed at Ingersoll Place. The testing period will continue on a week-to-week basis until further notice.

Phase two of New York's "reopening" which began this week in the Capital Region, included local media coverage of hair salons welcoming their clients back after the months-long shutdown. This generated much excitement among residents who have been looking forward to resuming their appointments with Ingersoll's beautician, Rae. However, with visitation in assisted living and nursing home facilities still being restricted to essential healthcare workers, we've had to explain their wait will be a little longer. It is hoped, that as regions successfully navigate all of the reopening phases without a resurgence of COVID-19 cases, the restrictions on nursing homes and assisted living facilities will also be eased.

Please know, we understand the disappointment and frustrations our residents are feeling and every member of our staff continues to do his and her best to bring affection, joy and extra attention to each resident, every day.

Last Friday's 96th anniversary celebration of Ingersoll Place was well received (cake is always a hit!) and plans are underway by Ingersoll's staff to help coordinate a special birthday party for a soon-to-be nonagenarian (90 year old). If there's an upcoming milestone in the life of your loved one, please let us know and we will work with you and your family to help make it memorable.

Still available are window visits and video chats that have helped many residents and their families stay connected during this challenging time. For scheduling assistance, call Amber Zoller, Lead Concierge/Reception Desk, at 518-370-4419.

As always, we are grateful for your continued patience and encouragement as we all look forward to brighter days ahead.
