Epiphany Celebration, Sunday, January 5

At Christ Church, we conclude holiday festivities with our annual Epiphany Celebration, Sunday, January 5.

We will have special music and a visit from the Three Kings, who each process up the aisle bringing their gift and then sing a solo from the pulpit. The Three Kings are played by high school choristers who wear royal costumes and gem studded crowns. A beloved Christ Church tradition, this is not to be missed!

We invite all interested children to accompany the Three Kings up the aisle as their entourage. The children will dress in costumes and carry gifts, which will be food items for the Food Pantry, wrapped in silver and gold. This is the perfect opportunity for any children who were not able to participate in the Christmas Pageant, or for those who did participate and are ready for another dramatic occasion!

After the service the celebration continues with King's Cakes and other goodies.  Children finding a jelly bean in their piece of cake get to wear (and keep) a golden, jewel-encrusted crown. We'll have crown-themed crafts and an Epiphany Photo Booth. The Three Kings will be circulating as well.

If your child would like to be in the procession, let Melissa Durbin
know. We also need Confirmation and high school youth to help with costuming and wrapping gifts and to be photographers in the photo booth; let Megan Miller know if you can help.
The 2040 Committee's discernment process started and ended with asking how God is calling CCW to be a community of faith in the Episcopal tradition.
Please join us on Tuesday, January 7 at 7PM in the Chapel at 470 Maple

The Committee concluded that God is calling on CCW's abundance, to bear witness to God's presence in our lives and to take action to ensure our vitality and long-term sustainability. To support this call to action the committee created CCW Guiding Principles for a vital way forward for our parish.

CCW Guiding Principles
Support our Members - An Inward Focus on the People Who Sustain our Core

Serve as Ministers  - An Outward Witness to the presence of a Living God

Grow our Church - An Essential Christian Mission is to Share the Love of Christ
With these new Guiding Principles as our core focus, how can CCW reimagine our Episcopal community and use our abundance of resources in new ways to enable a faithful and engaged community?

"Windows into Heaven"

Icons are sometimes called "Windows into Heaven" or "the Gospel in color." They have the capacity to draw us deeper into relationship with God. In this presentation we will contemplate several important icons and let them lead us into prayer. The Rt. Rev. Jeffrey D. Lee is the twelfth bishop of the Diocese of Chicago serving since February 2008. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Nashotah House Seminary. He and his wife, Lisa Rogers Lee, have two children, Katherine and Jonathan.

We will help and learn from local Appalachians, while taking in the treasured mountainous terrain. We will stay at and work under the guidance of the expansive and established Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky, which is located in the midst of Daniel Boone National Forest. Accommodations include air-conditioned dorms, a cafeteria, and outdoor and indoor common spaces. There will be four work days , during which we will complete a repair or rebuild project (Click here for daily schedule). On the drive down and during free time, we will explore with fun excursions. Dates: June 13-20, 2020. We hope you will join Megan Miller and Christopher Powell for what will be a meaningful and memorable journey. For more information or if you would like to sign-up, contact [email protected].
