Margaret Newell joined the Haven Harbour staff on Monday, Jan. 13, filling the service department executive administrative assistant role formerly occupied by Jen Ritchie who has since retired.
Margaret, a Kent County native, is no stranger to marina operations and management. Growing up on the water, her father owns Tolchester Marina where she worked for over 25 years holding many responsibilities.
"Since my father owned the marina, I grew up experiencing marina life," she said. "Docks, office work, washing, waxing, varnishing; you name it I did it."
Graduating from Kent County High School, Margaret went on to work at other area marinas and boatyards. Her most recent position of five years in Georgetown Yacht Basin's repair department included similar duties to her new role here at HHMR.
"I'm looking forward to meeting the slipholders and customers and guests," she said. "It's already been a great first week."
