Distribution: All Active & Provisional Volunteers
Volunteer Spotlight is Back!

SCORE HQ is happy to announce that we are re-launching the Volunteer Spotlight Newsletter.  Our amazing volunteers are what make SCORE the valued and respected organization it is today, and we want to make sure we are properly recognizing your contributions.

For those who are new or might not recall, the Volunteer Spotlight is an opportunity to showcase the incredible work being done by our volunteers to the rest of the organization.  This can include community events, client success stories, volunteers in the news, volunteer interviews etc.  Ultimately, we want to ensure that our volunteers are recognized for their important contributions to SCORE and to their communities across the nation.

Moving forward, the Volunteer Spotlight Newsletter will be distributed on the first Monday of each month.  If you have something or someone you would like to be included in an upcoming Volunteer Spotlight Newsletter or have any other questions, please email [email protected].

Thanks for all that you do for SCORE!
SCORE Austin - Celia Bell Entrepreneur Awards (September 2019)

Back in September, SCORE Austin hosted an Awards Luncheon for local business owners dedicated to starting, growing and nurturing small businesses or non-profits.  The luncheon was a resounding success with over 170 attendees and $25,000 raised!

The Luncheon is named after SCORE Austin mentor Celia Bell.  Celia has been a member of SCORE since 2003, has helped mentor hundreds of clients, and has helped start and grow many small businesses across greater Austin.  Her impact on the Austin community is tremendous, and we are honored to have her as part of SCORE.

At the luncheon, each award finalist was presented with a video about their business created by SCORE Austin.  If you have a moment, check out this video called "Making a Difference" highlighting the amazing work being done by SCORE Austin clients.
SCORE Greater Cincinnati - Client of the Year Luncheon (October 2019)

SCORE Greater Cincinnati held their annual Client of the Year Luncheon on Friday, October 18th, at the Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati .  It was a terrific event attended by about 70 people.  Guests included the nominees, representatives from the SBA, local financial institutions, partners with the University of Cincinnati, many members from the Chapter, and Colin Mayfield, news anchor with local Channel 5, who was the emcee of the event.

The winner at this year's luncheon was Molly Reckman Nagle, owner of Spruce Nail Shop in Over-the-Rhine.  Spruce Nail Shop, started in 2016, is the first and only environmentally friendly nail salon in the region.

SCORE Volunteer Carlin Stamm has served as Molly's mentor.  Carlin has been with SCORE since 2011, and over the last 8 years, he has worked with over 125 businesses, including start-ups and growth enterprises - the largest of which exited through sale at approximately $100 Million!

The full article about the luncheon can be found here.

Also, check out this video of Molly talking about why she started her business and her experience working with SCORE.
Volunteer in the News - Bruce Alterman (SCORE North Metro Atlanta)

A great article was written in October, highlighting the amazing work being done in Sandy Springs by volunteers from SCORE North Metro Atlanta - North Fulton branch.  Specifically, the efforts of SCORE Mentor Bruce Alterman are praised as he, along with Vice Chair  Marc Froemelt, helped arrange a deal with the Sandy Springs Library to provide a place for mentors and clients to meet.

Bruce has been with SCORE since 2017 and has helped mentor hundreds of clients.  Before joining SCORE, Bruce and his wife ran the Brickery Grill & Bar, a Sandy Springs neighborhood favorite, for 24 years.  He is also a second-generation SCORE member, as his father was also a SCORE Mentor.

Thanks is due to Bruce, Marc, and the rest of the SCORE North Metro Atlanta chapter for their commitment to serving clients in their communities.
Years of Service Recognition - November 2019

The Years of Service Recognition program was put in place to thank our dedicated volunteers for their continued service.  Volunteers  that maintain an ongoing relationship with SCORE for longer terms are the backbone of our operations and growth.  Through this program, volunteers are recognized for service lasting 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25+ years with SCORE.

With the re-launch of the Volunteer Spotlight, we want to take the opportunity to bring back attention and honor our volunteers who give of their time over many years.  This has been lacking for the past several months, and for that, we apologize.  We truly appreciate the hard work and time that all of our volunteers commit and want to make sure they are properly thanked and recognized across the organization.

Please help us recognize these volunteers for their commitment and congratulate them for their continued dedication to SCORE's clients and mission - November 2019 Years of Service.

If you would like a certificate to commemorate a milestone for yourself or a member of your chapter, please send your request to [email protected].

This month's and past month's lists can also be found on Volunteer Center.
