Dear Lab Families,

We are coming down to the final weeks of Jewish Discovery Lab 2021-2022. All of the students have been learning so much, and I have loved their participation. A reminder that the last day of Lab will be May 22nd, and we will meet each Sunday and Wednesday between now and then.

  • This week at Lab:

-K-1 will learn about the middah Kavod HaRav or respect for teachers and learner.

-2-5 will finish learning about B'nei Mitzvah in their lifecycle unit.

-6/7 will be preparing for their final social justice project.

-ADVOCACY will be celebrating their advocacy victory! The bill we advocated for just passed. They will also reflect more on the legislative process and write thank you notes.

  • Lab Open House: We want to spread the word about our special Jewish Discovery Lab. .We will be having an open house on May 15th. Please let me know if you can think of families who might be interested in joining us in the coming year! Thanks in advance.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rav Tyler

We are excited to welcome you and your children to come explore with us at our Jewish Discovery Lab. Our premiere youth education experience for students K-7, allows them to explore Judaism, their community, and their own identity through project-based learning. Students learn Torah through movement, Jewish law through Art, history through technology, and build lasting relationships along the way. Our students love coming to Lab, and we hope that you will join in on the fun this coming year.

Prospective students will be able to participate in a typical day at our Jewish Discovery Lab. Parents will observe the learning, and have special time to meet with Rabbi Tyler Dratch, Director of Youth and Family Education and Rabbi Daniel Burg, Beth Am’s senior Rabbi. They will share more about the program, and answer your questions about our upcoming year.

I wanted to share with you this new resource from the Hadar Institute called Dveash. It is a weekly magazine about the Torah portion geared toward students ages 7-11. It looks like a great resource to read together as a family, and helps students read the parsha from many different lenses. You can download it for free online, or order hard copies to your home!
