We are excited to announce the 2020
City of St. Catharines  Arts Awards Nominees...

The Arts in Education Award celebrates an individual, collective or organization that has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to engaging St. Catharines residents through arts education activities.

The Emerging Artist Award  is presented to an emerging St. Catharines artist working in any discipline to celebrate current accomplishments and future potential. Emerging Artists are establishing careers in their field and are working to become recognized professional artists. The Jury will consider nominees who are 18 years or older, who are based and active in St. Catharines and who have been practicing their art form for less than 10 years.

The Established Artist Award  is presented to a professional St. Catharines artist in any discipline who has received critical recognition for excellence in their art practice in St. Catharines and beyond. The jury will consider nominees who have been actively practicing their art form for at least 10 years and whose work has made an impact on the St. Catharines' community.

The Making a Difference Award  celebrates a St. Catharines arts entrepreneur, arts administrator, arts organization, arts animator or volunteer in the arts whose leadership and innovation have significantly contributed to the growth and development of arts and culture in St. Catharines.

Event Details:  
Nominees will be recognized on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. The live stage show will include award recognition and feature nominee performances in a variety of disciplines.  Tickets will be available on March 1 from the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre Box Office.

Culture Days Activity Program Funding 

Would you like to engage our community in FREE, interactive arts & culture experiences as part of CULTURE DAYS 2020? You can apply for funding from the Culture Days Activity Program.

* Funding is intended for artists, businesses or organizations who wish to run a Culture Days activity in St. Catharines.
* Culture Days is a 3-day national event (September 25-27, 2020) to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

The Summer Experience Program provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, Indigenous organizations and First Nation communities to create career-related summer employment opportunities for students.  Employment opportunities must offer training, work experience and skills transferable to the general workforce and to future careers. The positions must focus on activities that support the key sectors of citizenship and immigration, tourism, culture, heritage and sport and recreation.

2020 ART GALLERY OF HAMILTON ART SALE

F rom April 23 - 26, 2020, the annual Art Gallery of Hamilton Art Sale is the largest event of its kind, exhibiting artworks available for purchase from contemporary artists in Hamilton and the surrounding region. 

The Cultural Services office is a division of the City of St. Catharines' Community , Recreation and Culture Services department. Cultural Services focuses on public art, community development, planning and policy related to arts and culture in the City of St. Catharines.
