Exclusive Career Coaching Webinar for Emerald Clients and Associates

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!

Though a bit last minute, I wanted to highlight an online presentation taking place tomorrow evening. If you happen to have the time available and believe the topic to be worthwhile, please feel free to join us! Here is a summary and the details:

An important part of my responsibility to working clients is to help them figure out how much money they need to be saving over time. I must also help those families in making sure the savings are invested properly and consistently.

What I unfortunately can never assist with, at least not directly, is in helping clients earn more in their chosen careers.

It is precisely for this reason that I’ve teamed up with Career Coach Jonathan Flaks. He can help you do just that – earn more money in you chosen careers

He will help you:
  • Gain clarity and confidence in your career
  • Be more intentional about getting your career on a better track
  • Learn proven methods for maximizing your next opportunity
  • Improve the odds that you are the person chosen for any given promotion, raise, or new position

You are invited to join us tomorrow, Wednesday, January 6th at 7pm for this informational, inspiration and practical session with 22-year career expert, Jonathan Flaks.

Our Growing Team

We have welcomed several new members to our team this year. Melissa Harm is our new Client Service Specialist working alongside Lisa Scolaro who is in her 7th year with our firm. While Lisa’s focus is on service to existing clients, Melissa will be heading up new client engagement. She will also be supporting us in all written communication and with our technology/systems. Nick Hernandez has also joined us as Associate Planner/Advisor. In addition to working directly with future clients, Nick will be supporting Matthew with client planning, meeting preparation, and account review. Both Melissa and Nick happen to be lifelong residents of Stony Point—a helpful improvement to our "carbon footprint!"

Have any of your friends and family mentioned their financial goals for the New Year? Perhaps we can help.

As you know, the first step in working with a financial planner is the creation of a written plan. This plan looks at all of your financial goals, as well as your current and expected future assets, income, and expenses. It then instructs us how much you need to be saving, and for how long, in order to accomplish all your goals.

If members of your inner circle are ready to start the process, here's what they can do:

Option 1: Use our online calendar: www.calendly.com/emeraldcalendar. Choose either “Introduction by Phone” or “Introduction by Video” and select from the available time slots.

Option 2: If they prefer, call our office at (845) 942-8578, extension #4, and whomever picks up can help.

Option 3: Email Melissa at [email protected]. While Lisa helps coordinate our clients, Melissa helps new people through our Stage 1 planning process.

Option 4: While email or phone is still often the best way to reach us, texting can be helpful for quick updates or questions. That number is: (845) 263-3526.
Mike Rowe WORKS

We love Mike Rowe. His message is cogent and consistent. Paraphrasing: As a highly skilled tradesmen, you can make equally as much money (often more), with far fewer loans (often none), plus be just as fulfilled in life (maybe more), as you can by getting two master's degrees and competing against thousands of others for often limited white collar positions that require constant position changes, company changes, and sometimes whole industry changes.

We would add that the primary question young people should ask themselves is, "What type of work do I really want to do, which would keep me interested, engaged, constantly getting better at it, and which would allow me to create value for people, such that I will be properly compensated for it?"

Only then should someone back into the process of determining what type of training or degree(s) may be needed to allow for that work to be done. In thinking about the degree before thinking about the work, one is placing the cart squarely before the horse.

The plain truth is that we need people for ALL types of work. Tired cultural stigma shouldn't be permitted to continue placing certain work at elevated status to other work.
