What should I do if I encounter a wild carnivore in Washington?

• STOP! Carnivores chase their prey.
• Do NOT turn your back or run.
• Quietly, calmly and slowly BACK away, maintaining eye contact.
• Stand tall and make yourself look larger.
• Never approach the animal or offer food.
• Keep children & pets close & under control/ leashed AT ALL TIMES.
• If noticed, identify self as human: clearly and yell “Go!” “Get Away!”
