All of our students have worked in ceramics over the past month or two. Middle school is just completing a couple of months of work on the potter
'
s wheels, creating many functional pieces. With fifth graders, they will be starting a clay relief project, stemming from their studies of Ancient Egypt.
Students in 2nd-5th grade have made and glazed ceramic Judaic ritual objects; 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders made either a kiddush cup
or a tray for Shabbat candles, and fifth graders created h
amsas.
TK and kindergarten made clay hanukkiot, and 1st graders made a pair of candle holders for Shabbat.
TK, kindergarten, and 1st graders have created collage murals illustrating recent parashot (Torah portions). Our 2nd-5th graders continued their study of the lunar calendar using oil pastels to design images
of the moon and/or space. Other art projects include drawing from life; stressing observation and drawing what you see.
We want to thank Eric A., Eden
'
s father, for single-handedly cleaning up our garden. He trimmed the trees, weeded, and is re-working our irrigation system. Now we are planting! The rain was very welcome! Students helped plant salad greens, root vegetables, and more!
