The Children's Trust Presents Social Equity Day on Valentine's Day
Famed civil rights leader Julian Bond once said, "Many are attracted to social service - the rewards are immediate, the gratification quick. But if we have social justice, we won't need social service." That is the rationale behind The Children's Trust presenting Social Equity Day on Friday, February 14 (Valentine's Day), from
9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will feature a groundbreaking seminar:
Integrating Social Justice Into Education and Practice. The event is
FREE but seating is limited so please register as early as possible at
tinyurl.com/social-equity-2020.
Attendees are encouraged to bring in their own "shoebox" lunches, in recognition of times when African American travelers were restricted in terms of their eating choices. Shoebox lunches were packed with foods that travel well - like boiled eggs, fried chicken, fruit and vegetables, and pound cake. Bring something to share in the spirit of unity.
