Thoughts and Prayers
In our thoughts and prayers are Rev. Étienne, Ivan McLean (Debbie McLean's husband and Andrea McLean's father) and Norman Stiles (father of Dianne Stiles and father-in-law of Andrea McLean).

Our condolences to the family of Doris Reynolds who passed away Tuesday.  The family will receive friends at the Dobsworth and Brown Funeral Home, Ancaster Chapel on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 1-3pm, followed by a Service of Remembrance at 3pm.

UPDATE ON REV. ÉTIENNE
We are very sad to report that Rev. Étienne's physical health has further declined. As a result he applied for Long Term Disability and we have now learned that his application has been approved. We are keeping Rev. Étienne in our thoughts and prayers, and hope that with the help of his doctors, his health will be restored so that he can return to serving as our covenanted Minister. He wants you to know that he is keeping the members of Marshall close to his heart.

Under the Restorative Care Plan of the United Church of Canada we are required to keep Rev. Étienne's position open for him for up to 24 months while he seeks to be restored to health. Rev. Étienne is being paid by his benefits insurance plan while he is on disability leave.

We are so fortunate that Rev. Kevin is happy to stay with us as our supply Minister for as long as necessary. His spiritual guidance and wise counsel are a blessing to Marshall Church. We are a strong church community and will continue with all our usual worship services, study groups and serving our community.

There will be an opportunity to express any concerns and questions to Charlotte Stewart, Board Chair, and Dave Putnam, Ministry and Personnel, in the sanctuary immediately after the joint communion service on Sunday November 3rd. If you cannot be at the service and wish to express a concern, please contact Charlotte at stewchar01@gmail.com.

Seniors' Social
On Monday, November 4th Gloria Oakes will share a taped conversation that will be played during our time together. "This talk was given in November 1981 by Naomi Oakes, aged 85, as part of the Time Out series at Marshall Memorial. In it, she describes life in early Ancaster, her experiences riding her pony to the rural homes of her piano pupils, her time as an itinerant music teacher in the one-room schools of Wentworth County, and as organist of her beloved Ancaster Ryerson United Church."
Please join us at one!

Congregation-Wide Learning Event:  30 Days to Understanding the Bible - Unlock the Scriptures in 15 Minutes a Day
This week we are completing our study of the book 30 Days to Understanding the Bible by Max Anders.  In this study we have gained a broad overview of the structure and content of the Bible. This material helps us to read the Bible within its own context and with greater understanding. We now have a 'skeleton' or 'scaffold' on which to build to continue to learn from Scripture.

If you have not been following our daily summaries of the book chapters on Facebook, here are the posts for Chapters 22-30.

Our two study groups - Wednesdays at 1 pm and 7 pm in the Gathering Place - are going to continue to discuss the bonus material in the book during the month of November. You are welcome to join us!

Do you have a sense that you would like to share in some aspect of Marshall's work and ministry?  Is there something that you're interested in, passionate about, or have a talent for that you would like to give back in God's service?  There are a number of openings and needs in the church at this time.  Perhaps one of the following areas of service might be of interest to you:
