Important Reminder

FINAL REPORTING REQUIREMENT
To verify that you have completed the requirements for Year 2 of the Resident Educator Program, you must meet with your mentor and review the completion form. Both the resident educator and the mentor must sign that all requirements have been completed. Turn the completed form in to the Program Coordinator in your district. Check with the PC about the due date as it may vary from district to district.

PLEASE NOTE THAT MAY 31, 2022 IS THE LAST DAY THAT YOUR PROGRAM COORDINATOR CAN MARK YOU COMPLETED. THEREFORE, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU TURN EVERYTHING IN BY THAT DATE.
~ Thank you, Teachers! ~
Thank you for all you do for your students! Testing, spring break, and the last months of school may prove to be the most challenging time of year for teachers. Emotions tend to run high for students and teachers alike. However, the end of the year can also be some of the best times you will have with your students! You are accomplishing big milestones, embarking on end-of-year projects, and maybe even getting to do some special activities outside. This is a great time to reach out to colleagues and mentors if you feel stuck or need some new ideas in the classroom. You're almost there!
Resident Educator Program Changes

Recent legislation made significant changes to the Resident Educator License and Resident Educator Program. Effective in 2023, the Resident Educator License will be a 2-year license, and the Resident Educator Program will be a 2-year program.

Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, each Resident Educator will be required to successfully complete two years of mentoring with a teacher and attempt the Resident Educator Summative Assessment in Year 2 of the Program.

ODE did not ask for these changes; rather, it was a legislative decision. ODE staff will be working on guidelines as we transition to these requirements

Please note that upcoming changes will not affect anyone currently enrolled in the RE program. We will keep you updated as we learn more information.
