Stage One of Governor Larry Hogan’s Roadmap to Recovery took effect on May 15, moving Maryland residents from a Stay at Home order to a Safer at Home public health advisory. Under Stage One, retail, manufacturing, houses of worship and some personal services are permitted to reopen with strict limitations. Learn more
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball issued an executive order on May 26 further relaxing COVID-19 restrictions within the county. Effective at 7 a.m. May 29, all Howard County retail operations, barbershops and hair salons may reopen at 50 percent capacity, including staff, with additional guidance specific to each industry. 
Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman announced new measures the county intends to take to begin the process of opening barber shops, beauty salons and other “non-essential” retail businesses on Monday, June 1. The county will become the first in Maryland to set maximum occupancy for non-essential retail businesses based on gross square footage. See the details
Columbia-based Corporate Office Properties Trust announced that its Board of Trustees declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.275 per common share for the second quarter ending June 30, 2020 .  More info
Howard County saw an additional 2,206 residents file for unemployment insurance or pandemic unemployment assistance. This brings the total unemployment claims since March 7 to more than 28,206. Read more

Under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) created by the CARES Act, loans may be forgiven if borrowers use the proceeds to maintain their payrolls and pay other specified expenses. PPP borrowers must apply for loan forgiveness with the lender that processed the loan. D etails
