Westland, MI (December 2, 2020) - On Monday, November 16, the Westland City Council awarded a 10-yr refuse collection contract to Priority Waste. The total amount of the contract is not to exceed $38,449,174.

Priority Waste, located in Clinton Township, was the lowest of three bidders who submitted proposals under the city's procurement policy. The duration of the contract with run from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2030. Priority Waste will replace Inkster based Midwestern Sanitation, who has serviced the community since 1968.

The scope of services under this contract includes the City wide collection and hauling of solid waste, compost, and recycling, as well as bulk item pick up and Christmas tree recycling.

The city council also approved the sale of Westland's existing fleet of sanitation vehicles to Priority Waste for $1.875 million.

Resident's refuse collection will not be impacted by the change in service provider.
