James Primosch's Carthage
...another Grammy Nomination

and now, Years...
of consecutive Grammy Nominations.

On Tuesday November 24 we received a number of congratulatory messages from friends: “Ho, hum, another Grammy nod,” read many of them…

Not so! We are so excited at this milestone: our fifth consecutive year of Grammy nominations. This year, we thank Jim Primosch for the amazing music we sing on our album Carthage, nominated for the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance.

The album has three works written for The Crossing: the title work, Carthage (based on a text of Marilynne Robinson), Mass for the Day of St. Thomas Didymus (with poems of Denise Levertov), and Journey (a translation of a 13th-century text of Meister Eckhart). The music is so rich, so fun to sing, so rewarding. We thank Jim for investing in us, we thank the Recording Academy, and we thank all the members of our huge and growing community that support our goals and projects. It’s nice to be recognized. It’s even nicer to look at how we got there. That long list is below.

Celebrating with a Holiday Sale

To celebrate our sixth Grammy nomination (we got two last year and won none…but that’s OK, we went into it with the Awards of 2018 and 2019!), and to immerse in perhaps the most unusual holiday season we remember, we are having a Record Sale.

Actually, a Merchandise Sale –
everything at
HALF PRICE (!!)
using the code CARTHAGE at checkout
50% OFF
all Crossing merchandise, including our six Grammy-nominated albums (and the other 16 that we love as well!) That includes the famous Knot Socks – a dazzling combination of Form and Function.
Rethinking our Rethinking for the Holiday

Composer Matana Roberts has written a wonderful new piece that celebrates the life of Breonna Taylor. It was to be our outdoor, socially-distanced C@C Concert, December 17-20. Alas, recent guidelines from the City of Philadelphia prohibit such a gathering and so we look forward to presenting this new piece, with Echoes Amplification Kits, as part of The Month of Moderns 2021 in June. More on that later.

In the meantime, we have a homegrown film in development, born at home, recorded at home, assembled at home.

Stay tuned.
