The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.

The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The Director of College Access oversees all activities that support high school student college-preparedness, including all BreakthroughU site programs. The director will build relationships with students, parents and key high school and college partners to help students build the life and leadership skills necessary to enroll in competitive colleges and pursue career goals. The Director of College Access plays a leadership role in developing program and research partnerships with University of Miami, and maintains mechanisms for ongoing engagement of BTM college-based alumni.

The individual in this role is self-directed, creative, able to see the big picture while also paying attention to the details and has the ability to collect, report, analyze and use data as a management tool.

The Director of High School Programs is responsible for planning and implementing programming for Breakthrough Miami’s high school students to ensure they are prepared for academic success in high school, and successfully transition to college. The Director will work closely with students and families as they navigate the high school years, and hold students to high academic and community standards. During the school year, the Director will plan Saturday programming, monitor academic progress, set goals for inside and outside of the classroom, and navigate school and other community resources, to ensure students stay on track for college. Over the summer, the Director will work with the BTU team to plan and execute the six-week Summer Institute for 150+ 9th grade students to build community and support academic readiness, and the transition to high school.

The individual in this role is self-motivated, creative and an excellent communicator, who is able to develop and maintain key relationships.

The Grants & Communications Writer is a critical member of the Development and Communications team and is primarily responsible for identifying funding opportunities from public and private sources, and writing polished proposals and grant applications to secure new and renewed funding, which will support fundraising efforts to meet an annual budget of $4.4M. The position will also support story development and organizational communications.

The Grants & Communications Writer must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work efficiently and creatively under deadline. The Writer will work closely with Program Leadership, including the Chief Strategy Officer, and should have strong research and logic skills.

Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content-specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their ongoing work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This role starts on June 11 and ends on August 5.

The individuals in this role must have a State of Florida Teaching Certificate or equivalent; an outstanding track record as a professional classroom teacher; exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to deliver positive, constructive and honest feedback; and creativity, energy and commitment to excellence.

Summer Site Coordinators (SSCs) are critical members of the summer administrative team and help ensure the smooth and safe operations of the Summer Institute at their assigned site. SSCs train, coordinate and oversee volunteers; supervise the summer food service program for Scholars and staff; order and keep an inventory of program supplies; coordinate general office administration; manage the Scholar drop-off and pick-up process; and assist with the execution of special events. This position starts on June 11 and ends on August 5.

The individuals in this role must have a strong academic record with a minimum of two years of college completion; and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Summer Assistant Site Directors (SASDs) work collaboratively with full-time directors at their assigned site to ensure a successful Summer Institute; and work closely with Scholars and their families, as well as Teaching Fellows to ensure their needs are met. This position starts on June 11 and ends on August 5.

The individuals in this role must have a bachelor’s degree; a high degree of flexibility in order to multitask between projects; exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in many different environments with people from diverse backgrounds; comfort and confidence in working with children and adults; and creativity, energy, and a commitment to excellence.
