Research, Resources, and Updates

In December, MAP released the annual report examining revenue and expenses, fundraising and fundraising efficiency, and other indicators of financial health for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) social justice advocacy, issue, legal, research and public education organizations.

Following news of the creation of a new Office of Civil Rights called the Conscience and Religious Freedom division at Health and Human Services (HHS) MAP released a new infographic on religious exemptions. This infographic follows a larger report released in 2017.

MAP, in partnership with the Equality Federation Institute, Freedom for All Americans, and the National Center for Transgender Equality launched a new report providing a comprehensive overview of the gaps in nondiscrimination laws for LGBT people in public spaces.

A new report from the Center for American Progress documents services that are currently available to assist LGBTQ immigrants and facilitate their integration in six major U.S. cities, and provides recommendations based on these findings.

Trans Justice Funding Project is currently accepting applications for the 2018 grant cycle. Grassroots, social justice groups run for and by trans people are encouraged to apply. Applicants do not need to by a 501c3 nonprofit or have a fiscal sponsor to be eligible. Applications are due by
midnight EST on February 15th, 2018. More information is available here.

Eliza Byard, Executive Director of GLSEN, has been appointed to the Gill Foundation's board of directors.
Paulina Helm-Hernandez, former co-director of Southerners on New Ground, will join Foundation for a Just Society as a Program officer focusing on the US Southeast. Congratulations, Paulina!
Longtime Director of The National LGBTQ Taskforce Creating Change Conference, Sue Hyde, will depart her role this spring. Sue will assume the role of Executive Director of the Wild Geese Foundation. Congratulations on this transition!
