Wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking, "Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage."
~Matthew 2:1b-2

Dear Friends,

I learned on Sunday, from our confirmation students, a new definition of Epiphany that I like: "a sudden insight!" The wise men certainly had a "sudden insight" when they arrived to find God in the form of a baby, dependent upon his peasant mother and father for all of his needs.Their view of God was likely turned upside down when they realized that God entered the world the same way we do. God didn't enter as a king, rather as a humble baby. God entered the world not to judge, to rule or to conquer, rather God entered the world to love, to save and to serve. God did not remain distant, rather God came near and entered right into the messiness of our world and lives. I'm wondering what kind of an epiphany we need and how our view of
God might be turned upside down too.

In in this new year and season spend some time pondering these questions: How might God be entering into your life right now. Where might God enter into our world to love, to save and to serve? And, how might you be a part of God's loving, saving and serving?

I'm looking forward to the year ahead and for all the ways God will enter in!

With Epiphany Hope,
Pastor Erin

Women's Retreat 2020 - January 17-19
Join us for a special weekend together, as we examine contemporary Sabbath-keeping practices. Many women have demanding lives that pull them away from intentional worship and creating connections to our families in ways that will grow our faith. This year our women's retreat will consider other means for Sabbath keeping rather than a set of activity restrictions. We're pleased to announce that Rev. Judy Watt from 4th Presbyterian Church will be our speaker for the retreat. Our retreat will be held at the Skokie Country Club, Glencoe, IL. Registration brochures are available to pick up in the church office.
