Housing affordability - is it getting worse ? A new report states 90 percent of the new homes being built today can be purchased by just 10 percent of American households. According to the Urban Land Institute and PwC, the lack of affordable homes is not only having a profound impact on homebuyers and sellers, it is also discouraging employers who might be considering a move to places where there is simply not enough lower priced homes for their workers. Quick recap : Home sales drop again from the previous month by about 23%. The median selling price in all towns also went down. It seems buyers are favoring the lower price properties. The average time it takes to sell a home is currently about 150-160 days, although the Norwalk inventory is moving a bit faster at an average of about 82 days. Sales over $2.0 million accounted for about 9% of all transactions, slightly up, and sales below $1.0 million were about 75%, also slightly up.
