Impact 100 Chicago
October 2020 Newsletter

Our new grant year has begun.

The NFP community needs our help now more than ever.
We encourage our Members & Friends to share the mission of Impact 100 Chicago. If we each add one new member to join us, the possibilities are bright for our future grantees.

Help our communities shine!

THE POWER OF IMPACT
Attention Members and Friends!
It was great to see and talk to many of you at our first virtual happy hour on September 22nd.  We heard updates from our 2020 non-profit grantees and watched a video by Impact100 Founder Wendy Steele.

Be Inspired with the Power of the Impact100 Model!
Founder Wendy Steele talks about the creation of Impact 100.
It was designed:
  • to be inclusive.
  • to encourage philanthropy, empower women to see themselves as philanthropists, and overcome the barriers busy women had to community involvement.
  • for transformational grant making, with a minimum grant size of $100,000.
How it works:
  • At least 100 women each donate $1,000.
  • 100% of the members' donations are given directly to charity.
  • Grants are distributed in increments of $100,000.
  • No time commitment required from members, but participation is encouraged.
  • Applications solicited in each of five Focus Areas:  Arts & Culture, Education, Family, Health & Wellness and Environment.
  • Committees review applications, perform site visits and choose finalists, who present at the Annual Meeting.
  • Finalists present their projects, members vote, & grants are awarded.

GRC - FALL CALL TO ACTION
It's time to finalize our Grant Review Committees (GRCs)

We are working hard to expand our membership. And given the pandemic, we anticipate that meetings will likely be remote.  The Impact 100 Chicago Board is establishing four Grant Review Committees for the 2020-2021 Grant Cycle.  Last year our GRCs did a remarkable job adapting to a virtual process, and we look forward to another successful year of strong women empowering change & transforming lives.

We need volunteers to chair committees; these GRC chairs will determine the day and time of their meetings.

Chairing a GRC is a wonderful opportunity to become educated about the needs in our local communities and play an important role in Impact 100 Chicago's rigorous vetting of nonprofit grant applications.

GRC sign up begins November 1: we welcome your leadership!
