Your Cleveland Heights City Government
Mayor Seren Release First Quarterly Video Update

Today, Cleveland Heights Mayor Kahlil Seren released his first quarterly video update to residents.

“One of the commitments I made during last year’s campaign was that I’d report to the residents of Cleveland Heights each quarter about the progress we’ve made instead of making an annual ‘state of the city’ address,” Mayor Seren said. “We’re building a new form of government in Cleveland Heights, and our community needs more than an annual update.”

Mayor Seren intends to release similar video updates every quarter.

Yard Sign DOs and DON'Ts!

In Cleveland Heights, typical political yard signs are considered Temporary Signs and are regulated under Section 1163 of the City’s Zoning Code. As a result:

  1. Political yard signs shall ONLY be placed on private property.
  2. Political yard signs shall NOT be placed on City or public property or in the public right-of-way; this includes traffic islands, landscaped areas between traffic lanes, and tree lawns.
  3. Any Temporary Sign found on City or public property or in the public right-of-way may be removed and confiscated by the City and the City has the right to recover from the owner or person placing such a sign the full costs of its removal and disposal and any damages caused to public property.
  4. Temporary Signs may NOT be illuminated and may NOT have moving parts.
  5. The maximum Temporary Sign size depends on the zoning district it is located in.

The Planning & Development Department can help you determine sign size and other code conformance standards. If you have questions or concerns about political yard signs or other temporary signs, please call the Planning Department at (216) 291-4878 or email planning@clvhts.com.

Once every five years, the City of Cleveland Heights inspects the exteriors of all owner-occupied, single-family homes. There is NO FEE for these inspections. Inspections are conducted on a street-by-street basis as part of a five-year rotation.

Properties that have had a point-of-sale inspection conducted within the preceding three years are not subject to a new exterior inspection. To help prepare for these inspections, Cleveland Heights' Division of Inspectional Services has prepared a checklist (PDF) for residents. If you have any questions, please visit our webpage or call Inspectional Services at (216) 291-5900. To find out if your street is being inspected, visit our systematic inspections webpage.
