A new survey from the Public Policy Institute of California found that 57 percent of likely voters  - and 62 percent of all adults - favor a policy that would force local governments to allow denser development "near mass transit and job centers," reports CalMatters.  "That includes half of all the homeowners surveyed, a powerful constituency in the Capitol who are often presumed to oppose zoning reform," CalMatters wrote. Livermore City Manager Marc Roberts will speak to the BIA|Bay Area East Bay Regional Policy Committee on the Tri Valley mayors' response to the CASA Compact and state housing legislation at its meeting on June 19, 2019. The city manager will also take questions on other subjects such as Valley Link and BART. (The original scheduled speaker, Livermore Mayor John Marchand,  had an unavoidable scheduling conflict.) The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at KB Home's office in San Ramon. Attendance is free but registration is requested as space is limited. BIA members only, please. Click HERE to register. Alameda is scheduled to increase its development impact fees by 2.6 percent on July 1, 2019,, per the change in the Engineering News Record Construction Cost Index. The annual adjustment will mean a $476 per unit increase to a total of $18,870 for a single-family unit and a $377 per unit hike to a total of $14,865 per multi-family unit. Full Story
The City of Milpitas is in the process of updating its General Plan.  Following the completion of an Existing Conditions report, Issues & Opportunities Identification and Land Use Alternatives Reports 14 future growth Opportunity Areas have been identified for additional analysis. Full Story
The City will be authorizing a scope of work for the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan Four-Year Review on Tuesday, June 11th.  The Four-Year Review Proposed Scope of Work includes (1) Potential Redistribution of Planned Job Growth from North Coyote Valley, (2) Urban Village Implementation and Affordable Housing Goals, (3) Vehicle Miles Traveled Tier II Policies and (4) Residential Uses in Underutilized Business Corridors.  Full Story
On June 11th the Menlo Park city council will discuss Mayor Pro Tem Cecelia Taylor and Councilmember Betsy Nash June 5th request to agendize a moratorium for (1) All new residential construction on developments containing over 100 units applicable to District 1, (2) Any increased FAR for existing residential developments containing over 100 units applicable to District 1, (3) All new non-residential construction (including hotels) citywide, (4) Any increased FAR for existing non-residential construction (including hotels) citywide.
